If you take this angle then the only logical conclusion is that Gestede is better than Broughton at backing his manager without any fresh funding. -

He couldn't set a defence up! But he did have better footballers.. -

Well they technically HAVEN'T backed Ismael. Not financially at least. We're well in the black this summer - wage bill has been slashed and we've sold more than we've bought (assuming no more are brought in). -

Based on the age of player Eustace seems to like, I'm quite glad we didn't back him. I liked what Eustace instilled on the team (until the collapse in the last ten games) but I was always worried that he has a penchant for older players. There is no resale value in that, and with the club losing around Β£15m a season just by standing still, throwing money at older players would have caused huge problems in quick time. -

Why couldn't they have backed Eustace or jdt like this when we were on the brink of play offs -

To be fair, Roversxtra is usually just an account to echo (and credit) other sources. Has got a couple of correct stories here it seems. Nathan Jones still knows nothing though. Not his story. -

For squad registration rules, sure, but he wouldn't have had any work permit issues. -

Is cadamatari a no goer? Or is this a potential transfer? -
Been watching this Middlesbrough and Sheffield United match for about ten minutes and can see exactly why Sheff U are where they are. They just donβt defend. Clearly isnβt in vogue with all these new coaches, but honestly, theyβre wide open.

If the singles are to stay up, they need 3 points at Old Triffid today.

They should have sold him this summer.

It depends on what academy you come through to be designated a home grown player. Eric Dier, born in Cheltenham and an England international. Came through the Sporting Lisbon academy so was never classed as βhome grownβ when playing in England π -

Fair play to Ismael, we've brought in some interesting names this summer. Gudjohnson might be a real gem. I've got a feeling he's the key in the jigsaw we're missing -

Started his career at real madrid so must be some talent there. Born in England as well so he might qualify as a home grown player -

He didn't even name the player in question, I think you're probably thinking we were talking about someone else. I was just going off what he was saying about an unnamed player we are not linked with. -

One of the things you can say about the recruitment this summer is that they are trying to avoid leaving a position hanging out to dry due to outgoings - When a player is sold we generally have a player lined up for the position, Britain wasn't sold until Alebiosu was sorted, Travis for Baradji, it now looks like Leonard was allowed to go once the deal for Gudjohnsen was sorted out. Pears is the backup to Toth, if Pears is sold I expect that a new keeper will be signed. It might well be that they are actively not selling Pears until they can find a keeper they like where they can turn an overall profit/wage reduction on both transfers. I am worried about the overall quality/whether all of these new players will prove good enough, but as I have said before for the first time in yonks there does seem to be some semblance of joined up thinking behind the transfer policy this year.
