My biggest gripe in losing Brittain isn't seeing him move clubs, it's the club he's moving to and the fact it's totally unnecessary. He is the perfect Rovers Championship player who should be staying with us a long time as we push to actually do something. It shouldn't have been hard to convince him to stay, so the question has to be asked to the board why can't we? He's not good enough to attract Premier League interest, so why the hell are we losing him and why is he so quick to jump ship in what will be a Eustace style sideways and confusing switch to Boro. On top of that it's the usual missed full revenue because Suhail Pasha is unable to orchestrate contract renewals proactively, or influence the owners to allow for attractive renewals of our better players into the budget. A basic function for an employee of his "level". The circumstances for this departure are horrible again, unacceptable. We have to get Pasha and Venky's out of this club. As a fan it's my main ambition for the season, it's all I want to see happen at the club now. Their time is up. Players want to leave because the club isn't managed properly, managers want to leave because the club isn't managed properly. When is the entire fan base going to wake up and see? The majority have. I wonder if the 2 or 3 is before any outgoings and Miller is on top of that. Also, seeing as Miller could potentially fill in at centre back, I wonder if this gives us more scope to fill those "2 or 3" spots purely in attack. As we are badly short there. Assuming Miller joins, I would say right wing, number 10 and striker are all bigger priorities than centre back and central midfield as much as we could do with more there aswell. Jackson keeps peddling the line that we want "competition" on the right. We dont, we want some really quality, not another Hedges.

Normally we would get north of £5m for a player like Brittain but with one year left on his contract he's one of the bargains of the summer. Will be difficult to replace, and any replacement will be a downgrade. Wonder where our goals and assists will come from...heavy burdens on the shoulders of Ohashi and Gueye this season. Are they good enough to deliver 10+ goals each?

I think Miller is a decent replacement and I'm pleasantly surprised we're actually signing a replacement for Brittain. Miller has all the 'battle hardened' traits to be succesful here. Adds height to the team, can play CB, played at international level, very rarely gets beaten 1v1, and has a long throw. By all accounts, good defensively but not great going forward. Size, pace, and athleticism is a clear strategy this summer. Not sure of the calibre of player generally, but at least there is some kind of strategy I suppose! I suspect Baradji will sign at some point too who also fits that wider strategy. We're gonna try and outrun and outmuscle teams this season. Probably the right approach given we can't afford top players.

The common consensus seems to be both on there and on social media that he has something about him and has some stand out attributes but also is quite raw and makes mistakes. Still, most seem to want him to stay. The concerning recurring theme though is that his pick up in form came when he moved from right back to right centre back. Many people I have seen on twitter have said that he was very good in a back 3 but crap at right back and obviously he will be playing right back here.
