I hope we celebrate by beating Derby.

Bolton, Wolves, Derby all traditional old clubs like ourselves. The league game is therefore enough just like it was for the 100th and 125th, plus play in a one off kit, job done. If you are going to have an additional game you surely don’t just have a 40 minute kick about between amateurs and a bunch of 50/60 year olds an hour after the game - either do it properly or don’t bother.

Personally chaddy I would have wanted the Game to have been played seperate.Top UK or Foreign oppostion to garner interest and see a very healthy crowd on the day. A celebration of the Club as an open day,a fair,Museum of Historical items,Special programme,guided tours of Ewood etc. MAKE AN EFFORT. And all this to have been advertised in the LT for weeks pre event....OH DEAR!😲 😲

Did you expect more than a League game against Bolton for the 100th Anniversary? We've done exactly the same for this Anniversary as the 100th and 125th. All I'm saying is what is the difference in terms of an Anniversary match. They have all been regular League games played on or as close to 5th November as possible.

Throughout this thread several posts have highlighted what was suggested by e.g. WATR. My view (again FWIW) is that (as @Parsonblue) highlighted - marking the league game closest to the anniversary is fine. Personally I think tacking on the extra match (especially in this form) is no more than paying lip-service to the idea of a celebration…it’s half-arsed. A pre-season friendly against say Athletico Bilbao would have been a great way to kick off (!) the celebratory season. The book in principle sounds great…but like many on here I fear for the quality/content & independence of the editorial. A special shirt again - sounds great, but I’ll keep my powder dry until I’ve actually seen it. In summary Chaddy - it’s less about the “what” but more about the “how” the club does things these days…

That's an odd post from you Parsons to say the least.🤔 The whole organization of this event smacks of cheap,shoddy desperation....the vast majority of fans expected better tbh. Everyone to their own I suppose.

The LEAGUE match is the Anniversary game, just as the the 100th and 125th Anniversaries were League games. The Old Etonians seems to be an added extra. There is a book, just as there was for the 100th and 125th. Sorry, I just don't get the outrage over this particular point.

I did 1988/90 before moving with work to Birmingham. Wormwood Scrubs on a Sunday morning was quite the thing!

FWIW my take is that by tacking on a “celebratory match” of this dubious quality is symptomatic of the typically half-arsed efforts of the current regime who seem to know the price of everything & the value of nothing. The constant tinkering of the home kit to make it look more like a Grasshoppers or Feyenoord variant, the removal of the historic timeline outside Ewood, the shockingly bad 150th merchandise…the overwhelming sense is that nobody in charge cares enough. A match to celebrate the 150th…against a team that actually beat us in an FA Cup final…it just feels…shoddy.

For our 100th Anniversary we played a League game v Bolton. For our 125th Anniversary we played a League game v Wolves. For our 150th Anniversary we have a League game v Derby County + the Old Etonians game. Not sure why the uproar about this game when the previous two anniversary games took place without comment at the time.

Literally nothing that could make me stay at ewood for the rest of the day after an an embarrassing anniversary defeat to our ex manager, staff and players. If the legends game is only a 40 minute match then get it kicked off at 10am and get folk in early for some food or a pint etc.
