It only goes in the expenses column if the investment is written down. But 2 points : 1. That assumes the writedown is an allowable deduction for Indian tax purposes. I don't know. 2. Last time I looked at the VLL accounts there was a statement along the lines that the directors of that company believed the investment in the football club -equity and debt - was worth what VLL had put in. In that case I don't see how the Indian holding company could claim a writedown.

They count if an Indian resident is trading in the UK its own right, usually through a branch. But that is not happening with us.

Yep its been the jewel in the crown and the only success of the Venky reign and i'm sure at times some people have wanted rid of it but wouldn't dare. I think it fits their ethos though as breeding and growing things is in their nature of the core business, as is young cheap staff ! Financially its more than washed its face but not sure in football terms they've made best use of a lot of the assets its produced.

Ours was set up nearly 30 years ago on cheaply bought land owned by the owner so i'd think buying land and setting up facilities now without Prem income will be eye watering. Before running costs are factored in.

And if he lives North of Brum and an hour away from Barnsley it will be a factor. Playing for Barnsley or Blackburn means he can live in the leafy Cheshire commuter belt where many many footballers chose to live and socialise. Manchester is a heady draw for any young buck with a few quid given all the famous people that live and socialise around there. And it's only an hour from Birmingham at most so ask yourself again non football wise at the min what does Bristol actually offer him ? On a football level it'll come down to ONE thing.. wages so don't flatter yourself too much although you will offer more than Rovers.

im 22 minutes through the first half of the watford match... we are getting absolutely battered. There all over us. We cant pass, we cant out sprint, we cant out muscle. We cant win in the air. Luckily were not 3-0 down before they actually scored. They had full backs getting forward, they had movements, they had dangerous crosses, they had corners. We did... nothing... we just ran around like kids football. Men v boys. Not sure I can carry on watching it. The amount of times we give the ball to our cbs from the gk and we look clueless to get the ball forward, we just give it away. I cant count more than 3 passes... I do think we need to be signing a- striker thats good at holding it up and in the air. Because sometimes it needs to go long when we cant work it forward. Need a bully of a striker and a left wing back/ left back/left winger, able to get up and down. At the very least!
