  1. Past hour
  2. We are so far behind in terms of funding and ambition for this level, yet a minority still amazingly want Venky’s in. Mind boggling stuff. Suspect we’ll be eating Wrexham, Birmingham and Swansea’s dust in no time. Rovers have billionaire owners with first team investment level of barely millionaires and it will only result in one thing.
  3. But that is luck from England's perspective. It can be a French mess up AND English luck.
  4. I'd have said 'no worries, you go home lad and we won't pay you then!' .. Little rat!
  5. I’d quite like them being unable to pay the fine as then a jail term comes into play.
  6. Going back to the last Euros, the draw actually gave us the hardest route to the final, we were scheduled to meet favourites France in the semis. Some saw it as luck that we avoided them, I saw it as France messing up.
  7. Today
  8. Maybe having seen the circumstances around Eustace’s exit, and the clubs hierarchy refusing to even discuss contracts with established senior pro’s, Batth simply thinks “fuck that”.
  9. Szmodics didn’t want to play in pre-season games. He went and discussed it with his manager awhile was fine with it , hence the quote "I went to see him and said listen, I don't want to disrespect the staff, the players, but I don't want to take any part in the preseason games and he said that's absolutely fine, I'll protect you and I'll help you with whatever you want. Therefore he refused to play in pre-season games but played in the first competitive games he encountered. Let’s remember that the club were probably active.y trying to sell him, but squeeze every last penny they could because we were skint. Also I’m. It sure why people are suddenly bothered about this today as he told us all this when he left in September 2024. Rudy meanwhile refused to play in the middle of January whilst we were just 6 points from the play offs. We ultimately drew at 23rd placed Wigan in the game he missed. We weren’t desperate sellers as we didn’t sell him until the summer. Very different scenarios for me.
  10. Sometimes its just better to say nowt.
  11. A great player for us but he's gone now. If he plays against us I'll give him a good receiption up until the game starts. It was obvious when he started the pre season friendly at Accy that he didn't want to be with Rovers. Early that game he claimed to be injured from a soft tap and showed no respect for fans as he left the field. His mind was made up. Twelve months earlier he played again against Accy like no other team mate. That season he proved he could do the job and was outstanding for us. In his mind he must have been thinking this could be my last chance to play in the premiership. Chance came and he took it. Good to recall but he's no longer our player.
  12. mmm fair question, if nothing else he earned a ton of respect and now he's earned the disrespect (mine at least). But then I feel the same about Shearer and he was a legend (or is that a leg end mmm).
  13. He would have been a good partner for Hyam I think.
  14. burgess is a big no nonsense centre back who would have been perfect for us,seeing a batth is "leaving" wharton won`t likely be the same player, hyam is a mard arse and carter is injury prone
  15. Cult hero to present era fans, Speedie style but at the other end of the division.
  16. A one season legend - like Andy Crawford
  17. He was hardly 'forcing' a move anyway he was gone the min they made a serious bid the haggling was just over the fee and terms of it. His release clause had been hit so he was fully entitled to go for that figure it's a legal agreement as far as we know. Fact is he turned out in some games afterwards and risked injury blowing it for him. If he was the twohat some are making him out to be he would have flatly refused like no doubt quite a few others have.
  18. Ah, I see. A scenario: man woos a woman, the woman falls for the man, they marry and make their legal covenants to each other. The wife then gets tempted by another bloke with more cash and pisses off. A question: do you reflect on the warm memories of the good times or do feel aggrieved at the treatment you received? Personally I'm enraged by the actions not placated by the memories.
  19. On the free transfers, I think Gestede specifically mentioned that market when speaking to Elliott Jackson. Got to be proactive and offer decent wages or at least think outside the box. On our own players. We always make excuses, we dont want to distract them, we need to know what division we are in. Its all bollocks as its preferable to get them signed up (or at least be 100% sure they wont sign) mid season to avoid the mess of having to simultaneously try to give existing players contracts (or at least pretend to try) and then deal with that and potentially replacing any that dont sign simultaneously with bringing in new players.
  20. Some are overreacting here. We are currently a selling club, especially to PL teams. If any player gets a chance to play in the PL, they'll take it. In the case of Szmodics, he pretty much single-handedly kept us in the Championship during season 23/24 and deserves to be appreciated for that. We should be way more concerned as to why the club is not reinvesting the money generated from player sales to push the team forward.
  21. We hadn't heard of Ohashi, Toth, De Neve etc. No idea if the guy Swansea have signed is any good. Merely saying that they had spent big money on someone amidst saying that Burgess is a good signing.
  22. thats an excellent signing, everyone hoovering up the free transfers apart from us,who can`t even complete deals for players we already possess😰
  23. They both refused to play because they wanted to go somewhere "better" Not in the Derek Dougan class of downing tools but there's not much difference Sammie's spoilt it for me and has tarnished his time at Ewood
  24. Come off it - he singlehandedly ensured we weren't relegated.
  25. A monumental overreaction he's hardly Rudy Gestede.
