He was signed for around £500k to a small club in St. Pauli, who was in 2. Bundesliga at the time. Probably received a small pay bump if he had a promotion clause in his contract, but shouldn't be an issue. Goes to show (again) which bracket we're shopping players in. We can pay decent fees but seldom does a decent fee and low wage go hand in hand together. To be fair there's a difference in signing an injured player on loan in August for the season and an injured player on a permanent in January when we're in the relegation zone.

And to be explicitly clear, the AI mr blobby was borderline. This is off limits

I just looked him up for this season, he's played 15 times and scored one goal. They're already going down and they know it. He's not saving their season and he won't be playing for them next season. They're probably looking to replace him if anything, preparing to try and bounce back up next season. I don't seriously think we'd try and sign him. If we did, I wouldn't be going to another game for some time, would be the final insult 😄

Id rather start a front 3 of Saville, Harris and Glitter than sign Ashley Barnes

I always enjoy the 4000 holes podcast! I agree with about 95% of the stuff I hear on there too. But I must dissent on this one. If we were signing him from anyone, I'd be quite concerned. He's about 50, he's unfit or lacking sharpness, he was no good at Norwich most recently. He's finished basically. The fact we'd be signing him from a club who worships him for calling us 'bastards' on telly and smashing our goalie over would be the icing on the cake. Imagine what it would say on the plane they fly over when we go down and he's scored 2 goals.

With Ismael saying Gudjohnsen will be on the bench, I imagine we will now line-up like this: Toth Alebiosu Miller McLoughlin Cashin Tronstad Forshaw Jorgensen Cantwell Miroshita Ohashi I'd personally quite like to see Jorgensen down the middle with Ohashi dropping to the bench. Alebiosu pushed further up field, Miller at RB and O'Riordan at CB.

It feels like this window is about getting players who can "do a job" in either formation. Ismael himself doesnt seem to know, in the end we will have plenty of square pegs in round holes as the season goes on im sure.

I was just about to say, they've taken a look at Tavares, De Neve and (to an extent) Henriksson struggling to adapt to the Championship and just thought: We were in for Bailey C, Jorgensen and this St Pauli lad in the summer.
