  1. Past hour
  2. So, at most 1, heres a bit ot a glimmer to also cover my own back but almost certainly wont happen. Central midfield is a real concern. Im glad we shipped off the old model that is proven midfielder Travis for our new premium athletes. (One is currently having a tyre change)
  3. From Jackson: "Right, bit of an update on what we might expect today. Not expecting it to be overly busy but there's still the possibility of an incoming. That would most likely be a forward of some description. Outgoings, Harry Leonard deal is done as previous reported, will be confirmed at some stage today. Could see a couple of younger loans too. Nothing on the table for Aynsley Pears at the time of writing which means he could stay."- --------- An injury to Tronstad and we are a shoe in for relegation, IMO.
  4. Pears is a below average championship keeper, capable of great saves but dodgy like most are. From what I’ve seen I prefer Toth but he’s clearly a better back up option than the alternatives, if we can’t get a decent fee for him I’d keep him around.
  5. I named 5 CMs; Forshaw who I don't think can do more than 20mins and I personally wouldn't have re-signed. He's 33, injured and seemingly hasn't had a pre-season at all. Probably useless until at least October. Montgomery who I don't think is anywhere near ready for first team football Tronstad who is first name on the team sheet. Tavares who has flattered to deceive and hasn't really played a huge amount of senior football. Certainly he's never done 35+ games at let's say 60 mins or more per game. Most productive season 29 games and an average of 45mins across those, Baradji - have no idea when he is going to be fit, whether he needs surgery, whether he's actually any good. One injury to Tronstad and one of the most crucial areas of the pitch looks incredibly threadbare. Wingers, you're probably right, we could do with another, particularly given Hedges injury record. Jesus, I'm far from convinced by Kargbo and De Neve, but I don't see Rovers thinking like that. I honestly think they'll look at Alebiosu as another wide option, especially with Miller to come in as right back cover.
  6. Here's a gem from August 1977. Name them
  7. We should do a countdown 7pm deadline 1 hour 25 mins flight time from Belgium 3 hours flight time from Portugal 2 hours 40 flight time from Poland If we've not heard by 4pm then we've no Portugal coup, 4,20pm then no Polish starlet and 5,30 means no Flemish wonder boy
  8. Given our snail paced completion methods - no links this morning would indicate we aren't getting anyone permanently.
  9. Wrexham's keeper is injured, and even when fit he isn't up to much, they could have Pears at a knockdown price of Β£2M or so πŸ˜‰
  10. Shit signal in the sticks does what it wants 😏
  11. I'd imagine Pears' dodgy transplant has meant clubs won't be looking at him, unsure when he will be able to play etc.. besides who in the championship needs a starting GK with 4 games already played
  12. Whoever he goes to he needs to ensure the pathway to the first 11 is there. At Liverpool he’ll do well to knock out Mac Allister or Gravenberch. Really hope the injury isn’t as bad as feared - such bad timing for the lad, he would have no doubt got his first competitive outing for England this time out.
  13. Liverpool won't pay big money for an injury prone player. No one would. Wharton has alot to prove - not least his fitness and the weaknesses in his game before he gets the "big" move he apparently wants.
  14. Hmmm...you name 4 wingers for 2 positions, then wedge in a RB and a CAM, and say that's enough. Then name 5 CMs for 2 positions and say that's a frightening thought. I don't imagine the discrepancy is quality in depth, as a lot of those wingers don't seem up to it either.
  15. Agreed. Today is probably the day where loans make most sense. A couple coming in to add some extra quality and depth. Especially people like Browne who arent in the plans of the club that they are at but they would bring experience and an upgrade on what we have. The attitude we have towards them is counterproductive. We seemingly would rather go into the season short. And im sure the "project" will change next summer as it always does and we will bring in 5.
  16. The Jam - Man In The Corner Shop
  17. Because Nixon says we still want some in. When we do don't get them, it will be "well we don't need anyone else anyway".
  18. First interaction of deadline day. I never said that Pears will be number 2. I dont think he will. I think he SHOULD. Opinions dont have to match what actually happens. We dont just have to parrot what the manager says and does.
  19. As we only seem to buy foreign randoms from distant lands unless they are already in the building we likely won't be signing anyone today.
  20. So good it was posted twice
  21. Pears to stay is about the biggest headline in my prediction Has he played at all for U23 or U21? Wonder if there may be an insurance case going on? (Also suspect that he is on more money than he should be…)
  22. Fingers crossed the lads on duty come back unscathed
  23. Pretty crazy what’s gone on really, we had a team/manager that finished 7th. It could have been such a simple window of offering decent contracts, signing a decent striker and a winger and majority of fans would have been happy. Why do we never build? although it’s a little unknown yet I’d say we’ve had the worst window in the league no including sheff Wednesday, all things considered with who we’ve lost etc the lack of β€œlet’s add” to what we had, the promoted teams have really strengthened, we’re weaker than all the relegated team regardless who they’ve lost, can certainly see why eustace left, derby want to move forward.
  24. It's a great plan from Rudy. No really it is. Sell the guys we all know weren't good enough and buy new guys who we haven't yet learned aren't good enough. Sprinkle with lucky dips from the Academy tombola and tell everyone it's really exciting and we're being backed by the owners for this mega transformation whilst out of sight behind the curtain the incoming transfer fees magically disappear. Splash a few marketing words about, inflate expectations using a bit of hyperbole here and there and we're good to go for another season. What could go wrong? We're so lucky to have this board and ownership. No really.
