I feel like managers always come across well at events like this. They always say the right things. They always suggest that contracts are on the table, until they start getting signed, nothing changes. We have key players like Toth and Cantwell with 18 months left, but there are also much easier deals to be done for some of the youngsters. None have been done. Same with transfers. Its just hot air until they happen. -

Checking our stats with 3 vs 4 at the back, via football reference (https://fbref.com/en/squads/e090f40b/2025-2026/matchlogs/c10/schedule/Blackburn-Rovers-Scores-and-Fixtures-Championship) 4 at the back 8 GP 2 W 1 D 5 L = 7 PTS in 8 GP (40 PTS pace). 0.88 GF/GP 1.38 GA/GP (-0.5 GD/GP) 1.31 xGF/GP 1.16 xGA/GP (+0.15 xGD/GP) Possession: 49.5% 3 at the back 17 GP 5 W 6 D 6 L = 21 PTS in 17 GP (57 PTS pace) 1.00 GF/GP 1.12 GA/GP (-0.12 GD/GP) 1.35 xGF/GP 1.02 xGA/GP (+0.32 xGD/GP) Possession: 49.9% So, it has been the difference between relegation vs mid-table pace, plus better 'real' and 'expected' goal results. Also lost 2-1 to Bradford in the EFL Cup with 4 at the back. -

30 people. So in reality a handful at best of the general public (i.e non-business club members) went to a Q&A with the manager. Says a lot. -

Unfortunately even if Rovers had the fee, our self imposed wage ceiling rules us out They can do all of the pr pre window advanced planning that they like, but if our targets are pure fantasy (based on the money we offer), then that planning does us no good whatsoever -

I seem to remember seeing Leo Castledine's name mentioned a few pages back, he's signed for Boro for £1m. Being touted as really good business for them. -

Was about to post similar - if it is indeed correct that Alebiosu, Cantwell etc have been offered new deals then presumably they aren't competitive offers otherwise the first we would have heard of it was when it was reported they'd re-signed. So the whole process is basically pointless unless they are prepared to be competitive. Many Thanks for the report though. I was mildly encouraged to read the owners were allegedly annoyed about the pitch. Let's see if that annoyance translates into remedial action in summer as promised. Id have been even more encouraged to hear him concede that the owners were also annoyed with the performance of him, Pasha, Gestede, and League position etc. -
v Hull City (a) - FA Cup R3 - 11/01/26

I'd be curious to see Doherty get a run out. Looking at his stats on soccerway, he had decent production in PL2 last year (4 G + 6 A in 19 apps), although that's fallen off this year for whatever reason (1 G + 0 A in 7 apps). He has still produced in cup games this year: 2 G + 3 A across 6 apps, vs 1 G + 2 A in 5 apps last year. Soooo, that's 3 G + 3 A in 13 total apps (0.46/app) this year vs 5 G + 8 A in 24 total apps (0.54/app) last year. Has still been in the picture for NI's u21s too, for whatever that's worth... I recall him looking a bit exciting in my (very limited!) u21 viewings but maybe Tom Bloxham-like in terms of capable of some bursts/step overs, but maybe found out at a senior level. Let's see? -

Wonder how @Rossy Rover got that Ellie Youan was coming in from that?! -
You can be pro or against the boycott in and of itself, but to try and argue it will impact the team is obviously BS. Millwall game, no bugger there, comfortable win. Derby, very good crowd by this season’s standards, crap performance.

Thanks for the report, much appreciated. and just to state, I am not trying to shoot the messenger (so I hope you do not take this next line as as such). Offering these players contracts is one thing, offering them contracts at anything like a competitive Championship wage is something else entirely -
On reflection this could be a really good idea. Once the planned boycott is out of the way maybe there could be a "Venky's out" match. Don't know if it would be logistically too difficult to organise but we could try (as far as possible) to fill the ground with people holding up a red card. People who have already voted with their feet like me could go down as a one off and hold up a card saying something like "Ill be back when Venky's leave" and those who are still going could hold up a card saying something like "Venky's out" or "No season ticket renewal for me". Or just "Venky's out!" for everyone. I'd be prepared to order and pay for a card in advance. Just throwing ideas out there - could probably do with some fine tuning but there's possibly the basis of a good idea in there especially if someone like M-B would be prepared to participate.

Might as well start Powell tomorrow, we're already playing Championship opposition, be a good test for him. -

Okay, so ill be a brave one and admit I went to this. I got a freebie so thought, why not. There was about 30 people there. No idea who was business club or paying punter. First part was talking about his career, family etc etc. His time at Rovers so far. He came across as very family oriented, and actually seemed a nice bloke. He was asked about transfers and broadly gave same answers as what he's given to Radio Lancs. We are trying to bring pkayers in, hard in Jan. Usual stuff. But categorically said there was budget. Spoke about how important academy is. Hes impressed with how well litherland and Pratt have done. Change of tactics. Data showed we played much better in 352, more attacks and better pressure. We are 8th in chances created apparently but obvs we don't have enough quality to convert. (My opinion) Home form, said needs to improve, again that's obvious, but we are again something like 8th in the away league table. Someone asked a question about the pitch. Is it fixed? Fans found it embarrassing. He said owners weren't happy, experts have been employed but can't do anything until end of season. Players were annoyed. Saw it points lost and we are talking in a more positive manner if they had finished as they were when game abandoned. I personally asked a question about player contracts, I said that we have lost too many players for far less than their market value due to club not getting on with offering contracts until it's too late. Have we offered contracts to Cantwell and even Alebiosu so we aren't in same position in future as this affects pur potential dealings in transfer windows with less mo ey than we should have. He said Hyam and Brittain situation was too far gone when he came in and so they needed to be sold so we could recoup. (I didn't get chance to ask why Hyam was so late a sale). Alebiosu and Cantwell have been offered contracts. So he says. And others but didn't name them. Said boycott talk doesn't affect players who are here and wouldn't affect players in terms of attracting them to club. There wasn't too many hard hitting questions on the whole, as expected. And you are never going to get the full picture from these things. But overall he came across well. However, results business and whilst we have been decimated by injuries it isnt good enough what we are seeing at the moment. - Today

Rovers signed O’Mara from Brentford after he bullied our lads in a high scoring stuffing at their place that I was unfortunate enough to attend. Ben Arentoft scored a silly own goal too. One of the lowest of the low days supporting Rovers. Unfortunately O’Mara turned out to be a complete donkey, though not quite as bad as Gueye (sp?) -
Wharton & Edmondson both starting
-
Im not sure what point it is you're trying to make with the above post but good for you. That's your prerogative entirely.
-
Starts today for Edmondson - score/update - live on BBC1 & TNT Sports 1, 12:15 kick off - Wharton starts for Palace TBA - 3pm kick off Barrett - score/update TBA - 4pm kick off Alebiosu - score/update - live on E4 - not a loan but is of interest, especially given his injury, Rovers seem to think he has trained and is fit to play Postponed O'Grady-Macken - postponed - his loan "until January" may have already ended now, but nothing has been announced by either club Wood - postponed Farkas - postponed - has now played his final game for Prescott unless loan is extended (although this is highly unlikely as he has not featured for them since November)

He would be pissed off if he had got good results and attracted suitors like Eustace and JDT but as he hasn't and no one would touch him with a barge pole at the moment he cant afford to be pissed off. How amenable the managers are to the bizarre way the heirachy run the club is directly linked to how well they are doing. The better they do, the more they look to leave as they have options. -
There's zero evidence that a big crowd motivated this team. Besides, a boycott isn't designed to improve the performance and/or result of a single game.

Also we are nearly out of the mad run of games so we might be able to keep them fit. Plus Alebiouso back. Theoretically if we got all of them back we'd be back to an okay starting XI except for left wing back. I would like to see Powell get a go as its patently clear Riberio and Pickering just dont have the engine for it, and De Neve is a total defensive liability. -
I see the coalition have apologised. So what you're cowardly backing down because some idiots don't like it? That's a disgrace and it will completely evaporate what is left of my sympathy. It's a miracle I have any to begin with except where Jack is concerned.
