  1. Past hour
  2. I can't figure out Gardner-Hickman, he never seems to do that much and yet when he's not on the field we seem to be overrun in midfield far more easily
  3. Pears has done alright. He's a reasonable No2. We won't do better. Those late goals weren't his fault.
  4. Just looked to see where Vale is now on my FotMob app. He was at motherwell last seaso and now Northampton. He has hardly scored a goal for anyone.
  5. We should be alright for weather. I think we’re that traumatised from the Ipswich abandonment and Portsmouth last year, that even one ounce of rain will make us worry if the game will go ahead because we have a bunch of clowns running the club.
  6. Weather is holding off so far this morning
  7. Today
  8. I'd pigeon-holed him as a carthorse, journeyman-type we'd all forget about in a few years time, but he's actually surprised me with some little bits of skill here and there.
  9. ‘91 to ‘95 what a ride ay….
  10. The last minute Wegerle goal against Newcastle in 1993 was another favourite FA cup game of mine. I thought it was earlier in the competition, but it was actually the 5th round. I’d just said to my mate “Do you fancy going up for the replay” as the ball was launched up to Wegerle. Fortunately I went home through the fields so missed the carnage outside the ground.
  11. Whilst Toth clearly returns to the side, Im not sure the blame for not having a clean sheet from the last few games lands with Pears. If Miller could head, the ref didn’t give soft fouls and De Neve could track back he would have had 3 on the spin.
  12. Why the hell isn’t Stokes bringing the field in on ball 4/5 to keep the number 9 on strike? Amateur hour.
  13. He was a pressing forward in his first loan spell at Motherwell, no lack of work there (less so in his second spell, mainly because he was constantly injured). I actually wonder if his ability to press the opposition defence was hampered by multiple injuries, leading to him having to preserve his energy/body. As it happens, he lasted less than a month at his new club before another lengthy injury (on his first start, after 3 appearances off the bench)
  14. Has Pears kept a clean sheet since he’s been back in the side? I saw his interview in LT begging to keep his spot in the team Whilst he may not have been at fault for any goals we have conceded recently as in he hasn’t fumbled or made a direct mistake I do wonder if he is not as clear or direct at communicating with his defence as we had kept a few clean sheets prior to him returning
  15. I’d have Leonard over Gueye any day, bit of a strange departure considering they weren’t going to bother with strikers outside Gudjohnsen.
  16. I can still remember Motty’s commentary from that day, ‘the new grandstand has opened, the Walkersteel’… and it looked shit just two and a bit years later when the new Darwen End opened.
  17. The potential route to the final is horrendous as group winners as is runner up. Spain, Argentina Brazil all sit in our path. Providing they top their groups
  18. Says something about the incredible downgrade of our squad when we are debating the likes of vale or Leonard over our current selection
  19. No revisionism here - go and search my posts on Vale if you like. I actually thought he had a bit of ability, but he didn't look like he was even trying. He jogged after everything. Leonard would be first man off the bench in this 3-5-2 / 3-4-3 (I think we alternate) as at least he puts the graft in.
  20. Yesterday
  21. I think this would have been one of my first games, just turned 8: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/2635911 First (half) season ticket the following Christmas.
  22. Went to Hull season before last, Vale came on to help close the game out and really did do a job closing down, did really well. I thought it may be him trying to stake a claim but that was as good as it got.
  23. Well one place with a good set of results. But I would settle for that.
  24. Good to have you back & lets hope team and management get this right. A win will take us up the league.
  25. Tomorrows is the first game I have been able to attend since the abandoned Ipswich game.
  26. Weather was horrendous around 4pm today - I drove past Ewood and up LBR, there was more surface water on the road than I can remember seeing. But it's since died down a bit. If it picks up again overnight, I think it might be at risk.
