  1. Past hour
  2. Down to the very 'core' of supporters buying season tickets now - those who would buy a season ticket regardless of owner, league or situation. And all credit to them. The club will know this, hence the price rises to capitalise on revenue. There is zero effort to: 1. Increase season ticket sales to NEW supporters 2. Try and entice old season tickets holders back. Countless examples where people have not renewed and the club have not followed up. Those two things take a bit of commercial nouse and principally, effort. Two things sorely lacking at the club for many years. I have said this for a long time, the club is not interested in the supporters as we have no material impact on the P&L. The controllable lines (expenses & running costs) have been adjusted down to improve operating profit, in addition to sales revenue. We are all witnessing the lack of reinvestment. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!
  3. I loved Tony Field but hard to leave Garner out and Field only played for us in the third tier. I swithered over Terry Gennoe instead of Sir Roger for the same reason.
  4. Too much emphasis on whether you're The Judean People's Front or The People's Front of Judea in the last few posts. What matters is what is said to the Club in the meetings and their response to it. If the minutes aren't being released in timely fashion and/or are not being recorded accurately to protect the Club, ( i.e. any dissent not recorded) then that isn't acceptable and just goes to show the box ticking nature of the exercise from the Club's perspective.
  5. The first line is probably due to, not as many junior tickets sold to adults as last season.
  6. I love that lower league team as well. You could watch those players all day and all night! As mentioned above might err in favour of Bailey over Price at FB but also Killer Keeley with Faz at CB. Great pairing
  7. I am convinced he meant to say "exiting" time. There's the exit for Trav, Tron, Brittain, et al.
  8. Lower league Friedel (in his time in division 1) Stig byornebye Moran Short Curtis Flitcroft Berkovic (he had a massive influence) Dunn Jansen Garner Duff
  9. Yeah, hard to leave Bailey out of a Lower League X1. I'd have to fit Tony Field in there as well. The only ex Rover to play with Pele. Lol.
  10. So Bet 365 have us finishing 20 points behind the play offs. Probably about right, but in the unlikely event VI gets it almost right and we replicated last season's finish, +32 wouldn't be far off winning.
  11. The trouble with these clowns is that half the time they don't seem to be able to remember what they've said previously so they're tripping themselves up all the time. Even with the "official" Club statements.
  12. Neil Warnock's formula for winning promotion from the Championship: "You can't have too many (good) strikers." Blackburn Rovers' formula for survival in the Championship: "We can get away with 2 sub 10 goal a season strikers".
  13. Season tickets sales down but revenue from them up. Exactly what they want. Fewer fans = less overhead = more profit. With the added bonus of fewer people to vent anger towards them. Win win.
  14. Interesting to look back; "We need a left-sided centre-back, that's been obvious. Scott Wharton has been missing all season, we don't want to put pressure on him when he's back and expect him to play every week. It will not work. We need someone to cover this position.," McLoughlin, but at this time we have to presume they didn't know Batth would be leaving... "On the right, we need cover for Callum Brittain. We have Leo Duru but we need some business in this area. Alebiosu - but presumably he was the 'cover'... so when Brittain goes, assume we'll sign another, or we're further back than square one. "Right-wing, we have Amario, who is going back. Tyrhys is the only other player in this position. Well, we lost both of those players, so do we need one or two? "We want a number eight, a box-to-box type of midfielder and we don't have that at the minute. That's something we need to cover. I don't think Tavares is box-to-box is he? Presume their target for this is Baradji (complicated and in doubt) "We want some power up front to challenge the two strikers we have" Nothing yet. So, I'd say we are absolutely miles off what Gestede said we needed back in April, never mind the fact that since then Dolan, Weimann and Batth have all left, with Brittain likely.
  15. Last I saw about Mannsverk he was being linked with a move to Wrexham for £4m. So at non starter for us at that price. Might keep them away from Travis though hopefully.
  16. Today
  17. Danny Rohl has left Sheffield Wednesday by 'mutual consent'. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11703/13403379/danny-rohl-sheffield-wednesday-manager-leaves-championship-club-by-mutual-consent-amid-financial-issues
  18. I struggled to leave out Steve Archibald tbh but in truth he was never a true lower league player. Moran, Cowans and Speedie did at least sign permanent Rovers contracts, even though they belonged in the top flight too. Edit: I also completely forgot about Scottie Sellars! He would probably edge out Waggy tbf.
  19. Agreed, but Mannsverk would cost at least €5M which is way too much for us. I would love to have him though.
  20. Love the lower league team - mine would be very close to that. Possibly John Bailey in for Chris Price and Kevin Hird switch to RB?
  21. What? How can you be bored? it's the exciting time of year. Rudy said so 😉 Blackburn Rovers fans can expect a busy summer transfer window with Rudy Gestede... "That's an exciting time going into the summer"... Rudy Gestede - April 2025
  22. In fairness to the EFL there is not a lot they could do, the current owners took over prior to the Worcester Warriors debacle, and the information on Goldrings involvement only came to light after initial takeover. The dissolving of companies is commonplace and the compulsory striking off isn't as severe as it sounds. You can't bar someone on the basis of having been involved in lots of companies. I would guess if you looked across the EFL there are lots of 'good' owners who have similar number of appointments as directors to companies, etc. It's the nature of business creating shell companies and group companies to shield business people's personal wealth if the shit hits the fan. There are a lot of things I don't feel sorry for with the EFL however on ownership I do feel their hands are often tied in terms of removing owners. Football clubs are privately owned businesses, the EFL don't have the power/right (nor should they or any other membership body) to start telling private businesses how to operate. Whilst football is a very different business, it still has to operate within company law and the minute we start saying a membership body can start dictating to businesses how they operate we open the floodgates to all manner of things in the wider business world. As someone who has spent a lot of time at Christie Park and the Mazuma it's looking very bleak, I employ couple of lads who are scholars in the U18's/21's and they're playing their last game today having not been paid for 9 weeks! The only viable option now is a phoenix club operating in NW Counties from 26/27 onward
  23. Never been so bored during a transfer window. Thanks Rudy.
  24. He is good at holding the ball up, getting free kicks and playing in others. He has looked fitter in pre-season, but doesent have the workload needed. Could work interim as a 30-45 minute cameo.
  25. To be fair the CBs might die laughing if you run Cantwell out there at CF, so it could be effective.
  26. I started going to the Rovers in the very early 70s so missed the likes of Duggie and Ronnie. I'm gonna be greedy and pick two teams, the first one a lower league Rovers best-ever and the second one from the Premier League era. Lower league: Sir Roger Jones Chris Price Kevin Moran Derek Fazackerley Kevin Hird Noel Brotherston Simon Barker Gordon Cowans Dave Wagstaffe Simon Garner David Speedie Premier League: Brad Friedel Henning Berg Colin Hendry Ryan Nelsen Graeme Le Saux David Bentley Tugay David Batty Damian Duff Alan Shearer Craig Bellamy
  27. I'm available at 67, i still know we're the net is.😄
