  2. It's not often I agree with the club on anything but 1 year deals for players of Baath and Weimann's age is something I have no issue with.
  3. “ Running out or road “ somes up the last few years of Southgate’s time in charge. If we’d have given him another 10 years we still wouldn’t have won anything. Looking into the future we haven’t got the players to win things. You need world class players to win trophies at international level and, with the possible exception of Bellingham, looking to the future we haven’t got any. When we won the big one we had 3 players that would have got into a World Team. Banks, Moore, Charlton. With three more in Ball, Hurst and Wilson knocking on the door.
  4. Can imagine Rudy going to all these teams scouting players with an Orange. 5+ is the bench mark 🤣
  5. That’s what Mrs Shoelaces says.
  6. Yep, Jackson reckons we're basically planning for life without Batth and Weimann now. Talks not ended but seems highly unlikely for both now. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25231529.blackburn-rovers-contract-latest-impasse-continues/
  7. 1 year contracts are understandable at their age and particularly with Weimann's injury. If they want to leave, they literally can with nothing to stop them - but they've not signed for anyone either as far as we know. Personally, I'd try and tempt Batth with a 1 year contract with a clause for a 2nd year - 30 league starts for example.

  9. Its a concerted policy by the owners to make sure they don't have players contracted beyond 2 season in case they want to further gut the budget and risk having players on higher wages from a previous deal.
  10. "Pessimistic" about resigning Batth and Weimann, so predictable. We have low-balled them with 1-year contracts and they want to leave. Club to spin as greedy older players/wanted guarantees to start. Replacement a toddler from the Belgian D tier.
  11. Very lucky I got to see him at Kendal Calling one year. R.I.P
  12. I'm not sure that going backwards under Southgate is how I'd frame it, but he'd definitely run out of road. Interestingly, going backwards would probably be more applicable to us so far under Tuchel, tbf.
  13. The Fit and Proper Test pretty much must look like: Prospective Owner- 'Lad, here's a screenshot of my bank balance- never mind that it looks like one that I could have stolen from Google'. EFL- 'Welcome to the family, son'.
  14. I think I remember reading at the time the player himself wanted the shorter contract. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of us but I'm far from being convinced by him either.
  15. Another fit and proper owner. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1ld90y36q4o

  17. We wont be loaning him out. But how do you know if Ismael rates him?
  18. If De Neve is decent defensively, and Hedges is also favoured, it means the manager wants wingers who are also good tracking back and helping out the full backs. Kargbo hasn’t a defensive bone is his body, so there’s no guarantee he’ll be an automatic starter under Val
  19. A genius indeed. The first record I bought with my own money was Good Vibrations in late 1966 as a 14 year old. I’m not sure whether it was prescient to buy one of the best ever pop songs at such a young age or a curse to realise that it was all downhill from there. I was privileged to see him several times from 2005 when he finally got his life back and before dementia caught him. To paraphrase one of the great lyrics - “I might not always love him, but as long as there are stars above him”.
  20. No problem pal Why would we do that when Ismael rated him? 🤔
  21. Considering he was in the first team for a length of time on £300 a week then probably had a bit of a pay rise how much do we really honestly think he was asking for ?
  22. In the nicest way, you are not normal. Haha
