1 year contracts are understandable at their age and particularly with Weimann's injury. If they want to leave, they literally can with nothing to stop them - but they've not signed for anyone either as far as we know. Personally, I'd try and tempt Batth with a 1 year contract with a clause for a 2nd year - 30 league starts for example.

Its a concerted policy by the owners to make sure they don't have players contracted beyond 2 season in case they want to further gut the budget and risk having players on higher wages from a previous deal.

A genius indeed. The first record I bought with my own money was Good Vibrations in late 1966 as a 14 year old. I’m not sure whether it was prescient to buy one of the best ever pop songs at such a young age or a curse to realise that it was all downhill from there. I was privileged to see him several times from 2005 when he finally got his life back and before dementia caught him.
