I personally think deal sheets are a nonsense. Why should clubs get an extra two hours just because they’ve left things to the last minute? -

To be royally and deservedly entertained for 90 minutes, with Arte et Labore to the fore. Just for once in a long while, to feel like there is some pride in pulling on the Blue and White jersey, and some semblance of a thoroughly professional approach from our ragbag of misfits and toffee apples. Not much to ask. -

Nixon on Lancs said it's been brewing for a while over transfers, saying playing the kids at Swansea was done to prove a point (although it did seem obvious to anyone).

Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
Gamst replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That's not what I was saying. I fully agree with him being sacked and his record deserves this outcome. My concern is that they didn't sack him based on results like at normal clubs. I suspect there was some bust up regarding transfers which resulted in him going whether he walked or Rudy felt undermined and sacked him. The timing was all v rapid. It came out of nowhere and Nicko who is clearly well connected didn't seem to think he was under threat until about 10 mins before the announcement. We are obviously not a normal club but surely if it was solely about results he would have been sacked on Saturday night so the focus could shift for a couple of days on finding new signings that might be wanted by the next manager. -

Because no manager can be genuinely be serious in their argument of “I’m leaving because I’ve not been backed” when they have us winning an handful of games in 40. -

Don't know how many times this needs to be said - absolutely no chance he walked out of his own accord. He was "aligned". -
Rudy Gestede
Wing Wizard Windy Miller replied to ABBEY's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
This. Hovering around lower bottom of the championship wouldn't bother this lot. Bring players in, flip them, repeat. Cut costs. Results mostly irrelevant. However, league one is a big drop in income. Costs for the owners significantly increase and there is only Alebiosu of any value (even that isn't going to be substantial). They've sold all the silver. Even Tyjon walks for next to nothing now. Getting back out of league one would require another squad overhaul. That will only happen if the owners shell out. The Pasha/Gestede project will have failed completely. They will be in panic mode I expect. -

Big Val was pretty useless but I'm even more concerned about his replacement. For a few hours I was delighted that the board had taken assertive action...maybe they do care after all?? It then became clear that this was about our inability/unwillingness to sign a striker that we so desperately need and he clearly just left as we never sack a manager. Absolutely no manager with any credibility or self-respect will take this job. I thought Val was maybe the bottom of the barrel, but I suspect he left (like those before him) due to not being adequately supported in the transfer market. This is a man who was happy enough to accept a restrictive wage structure that meant all his best players were going to leave and was happy to support sub-standard cheap European replacements. Obviously this month's transfer dealings are even too poor for Val to accept. I think it's quite possible that we just get relegated now without barely a whimper. -

I’m glad that Ismael has gone, it was clear that we are spiralling and I don’t think he can turn it round. but I don’t really have too bad feelings about him, he took over a circus that got rid of its star attractions and was expected to improve , a limited manager maybe but a bad bloke, nah until the root problem is eradicated it doesn’t matter who comes in is my honest opinion -
