Ronin Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 The media can link our players to whatever clubs they like, which they always do this time of the year. How many were linked with others last summer and how many did leave? I'm not worried, I'm more worried with the potential takeover than with our players leaving!

BlueMonday Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 So what's that now: Savage, McCarthy, Derbyshire, Roberts, and Pedersen all linked with moves away from Ewood. You've got to love the media. I'm just waiting for the "Spurs to Hijack Dan Deal" Back page headlines.
John Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 The BBC Gossip (bullsh*t) column was massive today! As per the last few days (barring Sunday), we have not been mentioned anywhere with regards to buying anyone. And it is not a case of Hughes holding his cards close to his chest - he does know not what to hold at the moment!!
thenodrog Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Yeah right, secret hotel meeting anyone? Sounds like a secret hotel room meeting with just the two of em! Quote Maureen..... “I could tell that he wanted to play for me again because we had a wonderful time together.
lockers Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 i bet WSR is sitting in his bedroom cutting himself thinking about not being able to post on this thread haha
bluebruce Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Just noticed after the bbc updated its gossip column Six Premiership clubs are interested in Feyenoord's Royston Drenthe - with West Ham and Sunderland the leading chasers. (The Independent) Not that we really are deserate for another left back but he is a top quality player. Also int eh column was more on West Ham offering £10m for Benni Mc. Agreed, he looks exceptional. We're not crying out for another left back (although I'm unimpressed by our backup for Warnock), but this kid looks like he will be something else. Besides, from what I've seen of him he looks like he could easily fill in at left wing. A bit of rotation could do us good, and providing sterner competition for Pedersen would perhaps help stave off his inconsistency. I also don't see why he would go to Sunderland or West Ham over us, apart from larger crowds and potentially more money. In terms of the quality of our team, we are established as better. And have likely UEFA cup football, and a better manager. All that said, we obviously can't afford to splash the amount it would require for such a player if he isn't going to be a nailed on starter.
brfc_jonesy Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 i see west ham have entered the race for mccarthy, what is that like the 24th player they are linked with? i hate them tossers id run down the street naked if they get send back down. they got no chance with most of the players there going for. curbishley is a sack of crap so is that egg head ###### running the club
Ronin Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Will be the first time that Curbishley has had a decent amount of money to play with, but he just seems to be intent to throw it all about.
Hughesy Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 If West Ham offered £10 million for McCarthy then who would take it? After all he only cost £1.8 million!
Ricky Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 If they can pay 17m for Bent they can pay 15m for benni
Exiled_Rover Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 If West Ham offered £10 million for McCarthy then who would take it? After all he only cost £1.8 million! If we can somehow turn it round and get Bent, why not.
rebelmswar Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 If we can somehow turn it round and get Bent, why not. I would rather that they bugger off and find their own unwanted talent in Europe.
Philly Rover ® Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Will be the first time that Curbishley has had a decent amount of money to play with, but he just seems to be intent to throw it all about. Exactly, and here's an article to that effect: Curbishley flaunting West Ham's wealth Lucas gets a mention, by the way: "Then there is the question of Curbishley's January recruitment drive. Of six arrivals, only Lucas Neill, the probable captain next season, can be judged an unqualified success, albeit one noted for another immense salary." Lucas as captain? When did that happen?
tchocky Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Sometime this spring. He did turn out as captain for them on at least one occasion. Didn't watch many wham games so don't know how many.
neekoy Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Get in there Sparky Under Sparky no doubt a 20+ a year striker
Atomicrover Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 "Fulham are close to agreeing a £5.5m deal for West Brom striker Diomansy Kamara - with Heidar Helguson going the other way. (Daily Mail)" I wouldn't have thought that the sexual orientation of one player would ever be quoted as a reason for buying another................
tcj_jones Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I know many have their reservations and criticisms but, if he is available for the right price, then I think we should think about going in for Mido again. In his first season for Spurs I thought he looked a really good player and let's not forget that only last summer Sparky waqs willing to pay £4.5 million for him. Obviously I would like us to go in for a big name, because we already have a fair few strikers, but he could be a good option. I'd love to have Bellamy, McCarthy, Roberts and Derbyshire up front next season, but he could be a good alternative. Players I think we should keep tabs on, in order of preference: Yakubu, Bellamy, Defoe, Crouch, Nugent, Mido, Beattie...
John Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I hope the takeover discussions don't mean we miss out on our transfer targets.
ihateburnley Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I keep having this really kinky dream where we have Djibril Cisse and Benni Mac up front next season.
AggyBlue Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I keep having this really kinky dream where we have Djibril Cisse and Benni Mac up front next season. Kinky dream. That would be a nightmare for me. I don't rate sissy.
Roar of the Rover Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Kinky dream. That would be a nightmare for me. I don't rate sissy. Sparky can sort him out, because he's a top player really, just did'nt settle in that well. Bentley wer'nt that good when he joined us and look at him now, one of the best right wingers in the country.
