Fair play to Brown. Hull haven't won away in 3 months and they've conceded 9 goals in 2 games. They've had 1 win in 10 premier league games. It was a kick up the arse they needed. After being 4-0 down at half time. They came out and played out a 1-1 in the second half. It obviously worked!

Think Phil Brown has been getting ahead of himself with his actions and words recently. He needs to remember his team have only just got promoted and still IMO have a lot of average players.

Fair play, they have had a decent start to the season but lets hope their slide continues!!!

Not necessarily - teams who go 3-0 or 4-0 up at half time usually take their foot off the gas after half time anyway and don't match the first half performance.

Just heard the interview from Phil Brown.

"The first half performance wasn't acceptable and I;m sure the fans realised that. I wasn't being clever, but the fans needed to see that something was being done about it. We restored a little bit of pride in the second half, but it was too late."

True but again that's a common occurence, sounded like the performance could only have gone one way... nothing to suggest the rollocking was directly responsible. I think these things are best left in the dressing room.

Did anyone see the overhead kick clearance in the Villa vs Arsenal game that the goalkeeper proceeded to catch?

Does that not count as a pass back as it was going forwards? Or is it because it was a goal clearance? What is the official rule?

It needs to be a deliberate pass to the keeper which the keeper then picks up.

It was more of a clearance than an intended pass.

This is the rule:

The back-pass rule refers to two clauses within Law 12 of the Laws of the Game of association football . These clauses prohibit the goalkeeper from intentionally handling the ball when a team-mate uses his/her feet to intentionally pass them the ball, or from intentionally handling the ball when receiving directly from a throw-in. The goalkeeper is still permitted to use his feet and other body parts to redirect the ball. Conversely, if an outfield player passes the ball back using any part of the body besides the feet, the keeper may pick up the ball. An unintentional pass or touch is not considered an offence.

In future we should just pass the ball back to Robbo and shout "Oops! didn't mean that" and then quote the law at them.

Rooney should have been off and Ronaldo could have easily walked too.

Came on to post this - how does rooney continually get away with it?

Remember his lunge at Ewood last year?

Seems he gets away with 3-4 clear reds a season

Watched the west ham/pompey game today, and Pompey look like they could be in big trouble!

Next 8 games:

Arsenal vs Portsmouth

Portsmouth vs Man City

Portsmouth vs Aston Villa

Fulham vs Portsmouth

Portsmouth vs Liverpool

Stoke vs Portsmouth

Man Utd vs Portsmouth

Portsmouth vs Chelsea

Not much points there!!

West Brom,Stoke and pompey to go down?

True but with half the season gone then it would follow that their run-in would be easier. Everyone pretty much has to play everyone else once. Still think they will be dragged into it though and those games could seriously dent their confidence.

I feel Middlesboro, Portsmouth, Stoke, West Brom, possibly Bolton, maybe Wigan and definitely ourselves will be the teams battling to stay up.

I am glad Stoke have been pulled back in sooner rather than later.

Between the others Boro and Pompey are both in free-fall especially the latter.

You forgot West Ham, Spurs and Newcastle too. The table is wide open, if we can go on a winnig spell of 3-4 games we can look at a top 10 place! Oh yeah if we go on a winless streak we can look at bottom 2 place.

We don't have to gone on a winless streak to look a bottom two side. LOOK AT THE TABLE - We are a bottom two side

The season is 19 games old, with half the season left. The point that I was making was that IF we go on a winning run we can look (realistically) at a top 10 place and likewise if we go on a winless streak we will be stuck in the bottom two. I can see the table and note that we are six points from 10th place, is that so unrealistic to aim for? I bet Sam will make that point WHEN we win our next two games.

We are a bottom two side, we are there, can't escape the fact. Half the season gone so there is no excuse that the league hasn't taken shape.

There is half the league within touching distance of tenth place and as such an awful lot of results have got to go right for us to acheive that position. At this moment will settle for a place above the relegation places come May time.

We can agree to disagree but Spurs are a bottom 4 side as well then? I will settle for survival but the aim IF we win the next couple of games should be higher as the league is so tight.

No you've got that one wrong....Spurs are top 5...do you not believe the media......Its just a misprint that they are in the bottom four

Seriously they are a bottom four side because that is where they are.

The aim for Rovers is to take one game at a time and gain as many points as possible and see where it takes us.

I've a hunch that it will.

Weird! Right in front of the ass ref too! For some reason they all seem sh1t scared of the old RFW.

Anyone else find it odd he gets away with it all the time? Orders from above maybe.

Sunderland, Vacancy for a caretaker needed. ???

So they stick with what they know, Surprised to say the least, thought they would go high profile.

Must be the cheap option, after what Keene spent. :D

Get in another Jock at the top!!!!!!

Well done Ricky!!!

Maybe West Ham and Sunderland too. Doubt Newcastle or Spurs will go down though...

I see Sunderland ending up around 10-12 if they keep the team mostly intact, with only a couple of changes in the window. They have some talented players, but just need to have a settled side to get some chemistry between them.
