den Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Yep, the love affair with Hughes could very shortly come to an abrupt end, when he comes back for Rocky and Bentley. [my love affair went the moment he asked to speak to City]. He's not our manager, - stuff him.

RibbleValleyRover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Surely Williams will not let anyone leave until a new manager is in place and has their say. City fans on the 606 boards reckon they are getting half our squad
joey_big_nose Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Surely Hughes can sign anyone he wants.........i just hope it does not know of a dirt cheap release clause in any of our top players contracts........especially RSC. I think since McCarthy renewed his contract we are release clause free.
OJRovers Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I think by going to City, Hughes has effectively given up on eventually getting the Old Trafford job when Fergie goes. Doubt that MU would take on an ex-City manager.
Ronin Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I am more afraid of losing pedersen, roque santa cruise, and bentley. On the city website Hughes had apparently already named names of players he wants so I can only hope Rovers doesn't have a firesale. The only firesale Rovers is having is in the club shop. But I would expect for a host of our players to be linked with Citeh now. I also expect JW to not do any dealings (in or out) until Rovers have a new man in place.
greggyk Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I’d have Shearer and a manager with pedigree alongside him to teach him the ropes The return of our greatest ever player would have the town buzzing again and the players on cloud 9 – we’d soon forget about Hughes. As far as I’m concerned it’s over now, he’s gone. So like any other premiership manager I hope he does nothing. No room for sentiment in this day and age. Shearer wont take being a number 2...especially not with lil old Blackburn...The only chance we have of getting him will be making him manager
Hi Mack Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Surely Williams will not let anyone leave until a new manager is in place and has their say. City fans on the 606 boards reckon they are getting half our squad Anyone else think that Williams just has to come out and tell us fans whats going on? If theyve started looking for a new manager etc etc! we've pretty much been left in the dark! Dont blame him for not saying how much weve got to spend!unlike city,we now know theyve got 40million and coincidently RSC and Bentleys value has just doubled!
Hughesy Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 City can have Bentley - For £20m - maybe slightly less City can have Roque - For £20m - no less Hopefully as Hughes likes to play Roberts so much, he can take him too? £5m will be fine thanks!! Anyway enough of that obvious junk that is going to be speculated. The only one we will lose is Bentley - he can go for the right money. Onwards and Upwards.
iamarover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Sky Bet's Next Blackburn Manager http://www.oddschecker.com/football/footba...ackburn-manager Souness at 16s! John Collins.... But BFS at 3/1 ON! Surely surely surely not
SamTheShrew Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 bitter taste from hughes at the moment, but lets face it, it was on the cards all season. I got to the point where I was actually rooting for my own manager to be appointed manager of chelsea, so up and onwards! Laudrup would be exceptional. Imagine the contacts he would have due to his world reputation. He may be unattainable, but you have to at least ask. imo he is heads above the rest of those linked to us
speeeeeeedie Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I don't really care that he's gone. He's a good manager and will do well. It's now up to the powers that be to find the next good manager for BRFC. It will be interesting. I also think that if Hughes comes back for some of 'his' players we'll sell them for top dollar as Sinatra apparently has cash to burn which normally up's prices as their bargaining position is weakened by him spouting off.
modes98 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Surely Williams will not let anyone leave until a new manager is in place and has their say. City fans on the 606 boards reckon they are getting half our squad I doubt Williams would authorise any sales until he knows what the new boss wants to do. Equally if Hughes does come in for our players, we just reject the bid and that's it end of story. If he phones them we report him for tapping up!
nicko Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Is Spalletti a serious candidate or is it another case of throwing a name out there because the majority have no idea what is going on? Spalletti has support, just had that filtered back.
ihtd Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 BFS no way, i do not want to see that man in the home dugout at Ewood Park...ever!!! Sparky can have Bentley & RSC for 40million and i'd take a swap deal with him for Johnson for Warnock if he is that desperate to play for MH. I've got a feeling Warnock will be joining him at the Council of Manchester Stadium after his comments yesterday. He signed to play under Hughes, not for the club but i suppose a lot of players signed for the gaffer, not the club.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 What has Laudrup done? In the first season achieved a mid table finish in spain with a small budget. Beat the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the league. Got to the final of the copa del rey and got to the quarter finals of the Uefa Cup. He was also praised by the media for playing some of the best attacking football in the league. Not bad for his first season don't you think?
savage8 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 "Petrov on the left, Bentley on the right. Johnson in the middle with Ronaldinho in front playing a free role behind Bojinov and Santa Cruz. It just spells goals goals goals!" From City 606, laughable.

SamTheShrew Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 if you went around the world and back, that distance would be the difference in coppells and laudrups ability to attract players. that imo is key, on top of his good first season.
joey_big_nose Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Bit like Coppell then ay? Yep, but with a bit more of a rep. Arguably in the top ten players that have ever kicked a ball. Wouldn't be too hard to turn a few transfer targets heads.
Hi Mack Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 When Hughes came in after souness the players had a major part to play in Hughes' appointment so just wondering if JW will be asking them again!
Biddy Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Well one silver lining is that we won't be worried every time another clubs manager gets sacked now. We seem to have gone in cycles of thinking he was the best man for other peoples jobs and being sure he was going. Well, he's gone now, let's move on. Onwards and .... probably sidewards.
