Kelbo Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Prepare for another uneventful Jan transfer window, with the same dross here till the end of the season. I was thinking that myself but I do have a sneaky feeling there may be a few deals this time, dont ask me why, I just feel so.
broadsword Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I read somewhere today that Villa were after James beattie - don't know if that's true or not?
ffan Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Looks like Boateng won't be coming according to the times. "Blackburn Rovers are thought to have enquired about Kevin-Prince Boateng, the Ghana midfield player who cost Portsmouth £4 million from Tottenham Hotspur in August. However, Boateng made a substitute appearance for Spurs in a Carling Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers before moving to Fratton Park, and Fifa regulations state that, although a player may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season, “during this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs”. Any club signing Boateng would have to appeal."
philipl Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Boateng is I believe a non-runner for the reasons ffan has mentioned. Also a player who blows hot and very very cold.

However, maybe we would have a good shot at an appeal with this one (would have to start quickly though!), since it was only a sub appearance in an early Carling Cup tie, and Portsmouth are well-documented to have serious financial woes we could help resolve with this deal. I expect the league won't want Portsmouth going into administration and may make an exception. However, who actually hears the appeal? FIFA?
AndyR Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Arry sticks 2 fingers up at Storrie and Pompey Spurs want O'Hara to play but not at Pompey
andyroversmad Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 O'Hara would be a good loan singing if Morten goes. On the boateng 3 club rule i would of thought rovers would of realised this before they enquired if he is for sale, Maybe Rovers think theres a way around it. He would be a good signing
doctorryan Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I once spent a month at Rangers and banged 6 or 7 goals in. Rangers host an intramural league, do they?
Steve Moss Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 O'Hara would be a good loan singing if Morten goes. We can't get him on loan. We already have Di Santo.
CaliRoverNYC Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Rangers host an intramural league, do they? Along with Celtic, its called the SPL i believe.
Steve Moss Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 Celtic are allegedly interested in Benni. http://www.myfootballnews.co.uk/news_jump.html?team_id=10&story=43174
Roberto Policano Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 We can't get him on loan. We already have Di Santo. You are aloud 2 loans from the Premiership,as long as they are not from the same team.

philipl Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 With the probability increasing that Bolton will move quickly for Coyle, I guess it opens the door for Rovers to nip in for Holden if he is any good.
Kelbo Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 With the probability increasing that Bolton will move quickly for Coyle, I guess it opens the door for Rovers to nip in for Holden if he is any good. Especially as he would be on low wages at Burnley!!
toetoe Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Not disagreeing. It was just that Villa looked a better side last season without Heskey than with him. Fair enough, but this season they looked a lot better with him though
Majiball Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 And training with jumpers for goalposts. Thats starnge I'd heard one of the players say they used lumps of grass as goal post.
RoyRover Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 With the probability increasing that Bolton will move quickly for Coyle, I guess it opens the door for Rovers to nip in for Holden if he is any good. They should nip in and get Klasnić. Nicko, any word on the Bosnian fella Ibricic? That link seems to have cooled off. Are we still interested? I hope so.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 WE-DONT-HAVE-A-POT-TO-P1SS-IN...... Never mind making a bid for Klasnic!
roversWASmylife Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Boateng would be a decent buy I think.£4m if that's the price going around is a bit steep. Pompey know they're in deep s***. I wouldn't offer £4m for Boateng, let them sweat a bit and hold out for a smaller fee towards the end of the window.
joey_big_nose Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 O'Hara would be a good loan singing if Morten goes. On the boateng 3 club rule i would of thought rovers would of realised this before they enquired if he is for sale, Maybe Rovers think theres a way around it. He would be a good signing O'Hara would be worth it even if MGP doesn't go as we coul dplay him through the middle too. Muchmuch better than Andrews. Regarding transfer rumours - it seems a pretty solid link that we have enquired about Boateng, while we were also lookng at ibricic a month or two back, which suggests we must have a little money. Or maybe we are just anticipating the sale of someone first, and getting our ducks in a row?
Backroom Tom Posted January 2, 2010 Backroom Posted January 2, 2010 Offer a couple of million for Boetang, should be enough in their current plight, if not tell them they can have a straight swap for Keith. Holden may be worth a look at now as Philipl said, bonus is he would have to be on less then £15k as well.

Or maybe we are just anticipating the sale of someone first, and getting our ducks in a row? Probably. Daily Mail: "Celtic are interested in Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy, who would be allowed to leave Ewood Park for £2.5m." I'd rather we kept Benni, but I can't see him staying after both Sam and Benni's recent comments. If we can offload a couple of our other fringe players, I'd love to see us bring in both Boateng and Belhadj.
