Ricky Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Just thought it would be a bit of fun to see if anyone can guess what Fabio will do today. Here is the 30 man squad in full England's 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup finals: Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham). Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa). Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Scott Parker (West Ham), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City). Forwards: Darren Bent (Sunderland), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United). So who's for the chop then, pick 7 names. 1 point for each one right. I'm predicting Warnock Dawson Upson Walcott Parker Wright-Phillips Bent The only doubt I have over that is Walcott, common sense would say that's he'd leave out Adam Johnson but I just have a feeling Fabio might take a punt on Johnson.

tcj_jones Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Hmm, I reckon Capello will cut: Bent, SWP, Warnock, Johnson, Upson, Parker, and Dawson. Edit: I didn't actually see your prediction, Ricky. We've made virtually the same selection!
alexanders Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Guessing: Ledley King Parker Bent Huddlestone Warnock SWP Baines
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Dawson, Warnock, Carrick, Parker, Wright Philips, Bent, A. Johnson.
CrazyIvan Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Warnock Dawson Upson Johnson Parker Barry Bent If Barry is fit, Huddlestone.
Bobby G Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Baines after his showing Dawson Upson Bent SWP Carrick Parker
brfcshabba Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Dawson, Warnock, Carrick, Parker, Walcott, Bent, A. Johnson.
Majiball Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Baines Upson Dawson Huddlestone Wright-Phillips Johnson Heskey
The Rover of Finland Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I may be alone here but why the h*ll should Carragher be in the final squad??!! Liverpool fans are blind to see current shape but even is Fabio too? Dawson is much better and shouldn´t be dropped before Carra. My prediction is: Carra Warnock Upson SWP Walcott Heskey Huddlestone

The Rover of Finland Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 You think that Dawson is a better option in defence than Carragher? I really do. Carra was a great player but is very basic today. Spurs played very much better after Dawson´s recovery.
Majiball Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Can Dawson play right back? Left back? No. Thats why he's going he's versatile, Dawson is not.
rovers1995 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 7 to be cut Baines Dawson Johnson Bent Huddlestone Wright-Phillips Parker
Ricky Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 I think Carra is stone walled to go. As mentioned before he can play anywhere accross the back 4 so he's a very useful player in a 23 man squad. Also I personally don't think he would have come out of retirement if Fabio hadn't given him some reassurance that he'd be in the final 23. Adam Johnson will go, I just have a feeling he'll be the shock addition.
Sparky Marky Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Johnson and J Cole could be our jokers in the pack....they can both unlock the defence.
3rdpillar Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 based on performances that reflect a players desire to play in a world cup finals. Drop Bent, King, Walcott, SWP,Heskey and Bains,
hollowsr Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 SWP, Parker, Huddlestone, Warnock, Bent, Dawson, A. Johnson
Sparky Marky Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Can't understand all this rubbish on Gary Barry...They're going on about his battle for fitness like he's Pele or someone....if he's unfit, so what..? Just put Ledly King in there to hold the midfield.
Hasta Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Can't understand all this rubbish on Gary Barry...They're going on about his battle for fitness like he's Pele or someone....if he's unfit, so what..? Just put Ledly King in there to hold the midfield. Why would Ledley Kind be so good in this role? Has he played there many times? I keep hearing all these so called experts saying this. Going to the World Cup with a holding midfielder who has never really played the role would be suicide.
speeeeeeedie Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Baines Dawson Upson Carrick Parker Wright-Phillips Bent I was writing when Nicko posted about Warnock, no prior information; scouts honour.

Possibly....but what about parker, or anyone else that is there already can do Barry's job....He's Shyte....what a load of jibber jabber over a very average player.
Stuart Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 My predictions and not necessarily my personal preference: Bent Baines Warnock Wright-Philips Dawson Parker Huddlestone Although he's thick-skinned I think Capello has painted himself into a corner with the public courting of Carragher but his versatility probably means he can drop two of his three specialist left-backs, and a centre-back, in favour of taking Joe Cole. I don't think Parker or Huddlestone have done enough. Also think he'll take a punt on King and Adam Johnson.
robbo_rovers Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 BBC live feed reporting that Walcott is to be left out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8715254.stm
