Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 England need to calm down a bit and relax with the ball and get in control.

MarkBRFC71 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Terrible so far. James instead of Hart, Carragher instead of Dawson both awful choices. Gerrard on the left is a liability - he's not intelligent enough to play with any discipline. As much as Rovers don't, England do have the players to play 1 up front. I would have dropped Heskey (who is basically a @#/? Jason Roberts), and played Gerrard and Lampard right behind him. Joe Cole HAS to play as sadly he's the only English player capable of the unpredictable. Lennon should be pushed wide right, and Barry just sitting in front of the back 4. Capello at the mo looks about as clueless as McClaren did. Come on Fabio, sort it!!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Picked it up a bit in the last 10 mins. We've tested their keeper a couple of times now but we just need to keep it up and not slip back to how we started the game.
USA Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 F'ingg gutted. What the hell did the ref call. Offsides or a foul. F'ing furious right now.
Mr. E Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Utterly obvious, yet utterly infuriating. Capello is the worst manager in this tournament. Domenech at least wouldn't smile and pretend like nothing is wrong.
Backroom Tom Posted June 18, 2010 Backroom Posted June 18, 2010 Poor once again. And once again heskey just about as good as anyone which says a lot
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 The negatives: Lennon has been totally out of the game. Gerrard hit a shot into my back garden, not once but multiple times. Our two strikers are doing the midfields job of recovering the ball. Heskey even helped out at right back. The strikers should be up front! Learn how to keep the ball...it really isn't that hard! The positives: Barry has played well after so long out. The goalkeeper and defence look comfortable despite the missing midfield. Fabio will give them a good talking too!
DeadlyDirk Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Possibly our worst half in recent memory, off the top of my head I can't think of a game where we've looked so clueless against 'weaker' opposition. Forget any talk of whether or not we are good enough to reach the semi's etc, are we good enough to win a game? It can only get better, but then I thought that after the USA game.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 It would have been game over by now if England were playing one of the top sides in the tournament. Barry and Lampard doing a great job? Complete tosh, Algeria are finding it far too easy to get through England's midfield.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I think Barry has been the main midfielder to contribute to the game but only because everyone else has gone missing.
RoyRover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I'm shocked. As limited as I believe England to be, I thought that they would have been destroying these guys. They still could in the second half. They need to up their game though.
MarkBRFC71 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Capello falling into the same trap Allardyce often does - trying to shoehorn players into his system rather than adapting the system to his players strengths. Remember 1990? We were hopeless until Sir Bobby changed the system to suit the players and used a sweeper - look how far we got then. Over to you Fabio .... For the love of god get that f***ing big galoot Heskey off!!!!
Backroom Tom Posted June 18, 2010 Backroom Posted June 18, 2010 You say get heskey off but Rooney has been worse. He's been woeful again
yankrover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 At least Carragher can't play the next match for you now.
broadsword Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 You say get heskey off but Rooney has been worse. He's been woeful again I would've taken him and Lampard off and put Cole and Defoe on.
MarkBRFC71 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 You say get heskey off but Rooney has been worse. He's been woeful again At least Rooney can finish if he gets the chance, but yes, he's been terrible along with pretty much every other England player. I guess he'd better buy that caravan and start growing the beard. It made me laugh when Tyldesley said that Carragher was going to miss the next game like that was a negative?!? Lennon for Wright-Phillips does nothing - the problem is the system and that will just be like-for-like.
Backroom Tom Posted June 18, 2010 Backroom Posted June 18, 2010 I just can't work out what's up with Rooney lampard and gerrard, all really poor. Rooney especially looks lazy and uninterested
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 God knows why Cole ain't on yet. Has someone bought Fabio a bloody brolly for his birthday?! He's become as good as Steve McClaren!
Paul Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Try pressing the red button and watching ITV live - some great texts, more enteraining than the footie. "it doesn't matter who wins as long as everyone has fun!"
MarkBRFC71 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Is that overrated knucklehead Gerrard incapable of playing a SIMPLE pass? Why does he always have to go for the Hollywood ball and fail 9 times out of 10?! Frustrating as fook.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I'll take a scrappy 1-0 hand of god now. England are so frustrating. Even Rovers play more exciting football than this FFS!!!!!!!
brfcshabba Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Even Rovers play more exciting football than this FFS!!!!!!! England would be good to take a more direct approach. And I agree Rooney has been awful
