Is the Mail on Sunday article by the same person who did the article on the new owners and flew over to see them a couple of months ago ?

Where there were disputes on here about the validity of his reports then about how much money they were earning and worth etc. ?

The Mail on Sunday article:

@CryerRovers - Jones saga should end tomorrow... He'll be a Utd player. Now let's spend the money!

Whats the price ?

If its the same price then we have to say that Venky's Ferked up !

Rovers will sign a player in the next 3 months

I'm now convinced the papers are playing the 'Worst picture of Jones wins' game

MANCHESTER UNITED have completed the signing of Phil Jones from Blackburn.

And Sir Alex Ferguson has pulled off another 11th-hour triumph over Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, who thought they had won the race for the England under-21 international.

Blackburn owners, Venky's, were said to be demanding more money from United but have now agreed a £16.5million deal, rising to almost £20m if United win the title and Jones gains a certain number of full England caps.

Looks like even if he signs for United they've had to increase it a little :tu:

Embarrassing for the Mail on Sunday if they're wrong on that one, and it seems almost certain they are.

I'm not sure they can even pull it before print. In fact it's surely already been printed and distributed by now...

The author of the MoS story posts on here quite regularly - perhaps he might explain himself.

Mark Ogden from Telegraph confirms Liverpool made a new bid, but odd as he already rejected them. He thinks Jones will sign for Man Utd tomorrow.

Lpool did make new bid for Jones today. Odd. Player already rejected #lfc for #mufc, so tough position for him. Utd to conclude tmrw.

Looks like the Sunday Mail's Nick Harris has been totally and utterly misadvised by someone by a Venky's source that he must have trusted for him to run a back page story like that.

It is ironic that the first time most of us heard about the 16 mill clause, wasn't via the media, but from this site. so somebody had some genuine inside information.

with regards the sunday mail article - it is possible that with all that has gone on - other clubs, including Liverpool may have tried to step in and beat Utd for PJ - which was told to the sunday mail, hence their article. Only for an agreement with Rovers and Utd to have been agreed. Stories / situations can change quickly in football. The transfer of PJ had not been completed, other clubs new it.

Liverpool bid was irrelevant, Rovers had to sell to United because that is where Jones wants to go.

BLACKBURN intend to seal a knockdown £6.5million move for Manchester City's flop striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Paraguay hitman, 29, was on loan at Ewood Park last season and boss Steve Kean hopes to have cash to splash after selling Phil Jones to Manchester United.

Rovers flogged Santa Cruz to City for £17.5m two years ago but the Eastlands outfit are ready to take a huge hit on the injury-plagued striker, who scored only three goals for them.

The stumbling block could be his £90,000-a-week wages.

Kean is also trailing City players Shaun Wright-Phillips and Nedum Onuoha.
