Stuart Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I wonder if any of the Walker family might buy the club. For the right price...

PAFELL Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 No one is standing by sources. So there is no story. So in doing so they are doing massive damage to our club. Thats why I think this thread is one of the most dangerous ever posted on this forum and a massive, massive mistake by the moderators. They will not stand by this. Its such they are saying "we heard a rumour, it might be true, why don't you all discuss it. We might have some evidence we might not" All of it is devastating to our club. As I mentioned in another post. I have no connections within the club etc etc. But I heard as long ago as Feb / Mar that Venkys were not happy about certain things. They wondered what they had gotten into. To the extent they were actually shocked when they took over the club. Infact even in the first MONTH. If people rememeber Venkys said we will see a difference within a month of the takeover. The moderators on this site, said, repeatedly said, that this is only a rumour. They have posted it, because the rumour is so strong that it needs confirmation, denial etc etc in order to get to what is actually happening. I am not one for posting insults on here and I resist in doing so now. But you have no idea what you are talking about. So until this rumour is either confirmed or denied - keep quiet. There is a story here, that I do believe. But we have to wait for awhile for it to run its course.
adsfortheblues Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I wish I could share such optimism, 12th place? You should put some money on that one, the odds would be good!! Lol its just rovers all over though that, theyve always been so predictable, granted not since these lot have taken over but I honestly see that happening. People will then say (50%) well they've done a good job comfortably stayed up etc and other people (50%) will say that they didn't fulfill there promise of a cup and europe.
Paul Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Did Venky's complete, repeat complete, the purchase of David Dunns house at Brockhall? Of course not, it was just another bit of nonsense put out in an attempt to appease the fans. another titbit for the blue tint brigade.
promoted2001 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Should Venky's not be presumed innocent until proven guilty? Or would everyone just prefer to jump to conclusions?
jim mk2 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 No. Because I am not convinced they are selling yet. I respect kamy and I know where his info has come from. However there is a long way between what someone has heard and saying that a Premier League club is for sale. For a kick-off IF Venkys WERE looking for a buyer that tells me one thing and one thing alone... They haven't found one yet. Maybe you're not convinced they are selling yet but from what you say there appears to have been a change of heart about their long-term ownership A few weeks ago they were apparently planning to spend £40m plus this window, now they appear to be having doubts about spending anything Surely a story there ? Headline: ROVERS OWNERS TURNING CHICKEN
Balwer Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I wonder if any of the Walker family might buy the club. For the right price... I couldn't think of anyone less likely to buy it to be honest.
chaddyrovers Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Have I imagined it or did someone suggest a couple of months ago that Fred Walker was so upset about what he saw a the destruction of Jacks and the Walker families legacy that he was considering doing something about it? If we are assuming that there is no profit to be made from Rovers, and that's probably a fair assumption, then surely the only possibility of a buyer would be someone with a connection or love of the club? Not many millionares out there that fit the bill but to be fair, the Walkers probably do... Just a thought... maybe Fred Walker and Saurin Shah or DW have joined together to buy rovers.
Parsonblue Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 No. Because I am not convinced they are selling yet. I respect kamy and I know where his info has come from. For a kick-off IF Venkys WERE looking for a buyer that tells me one thing and one thing alone... They haven't found one yet. I mentioned it the other day before this rumour began but I'm beginning to wonder if Mrs. Desai, who by all accounts is the real power in this company, has begun to realise that owning the Rovers might prove a serious drain on resources that are earmarked for their other companies. This is the sort of situation that ultimately caught up with the Trust and I wonder if this explains why the transfer lists that you reported last week are now in the bin. However, I totally agree with you that they aren't going to find a buyer in a hurry and the fear must be that they try to adopt the same model as the Trust but minus Williams, Finn and an experienced manager who was used to working on a limited budget.
PAFELL Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Yet another unconfirmed report by Nicko. Smoke and mirrors. There's a lot of it about Why don't you go back to the beginning of the thread. A RUMOUR is circulating, it CANNOT BE CONFIRMED AS YET. More to follow etc etc. It cannot as yet be confirmed as true or false. But it is so strong that it needs to be dealt with.

In the meantime you stick to writing the headlines - even if there isn't a story to go with it. And keep taking those meds.
Henwah Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 You have all the information we can give. We're not going to say how we found out, who from or any of the other names involved because doing so may be detrimental to what we believe is best for the club. We even wrestled with telling people this much. We wanted something a little more official (i.e. an official denial) so we could run it as "news", but we couldn't get anything, so here it is on the forum as rumour. What's more I can't see anyone "official" being willing to make a statement, so there will probably be no more "solid" info on it (at least until is happens or it doesn't). Do you believe it is "better for the club" to start off a panic then allow an hysterical discussion, largely consisting of anti-owner comments of varying intensity, on a forum which the owners allegedly read? Rather than offer some limited details with sources removed? (edit to add speech marks)
ElTwis Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I couldn't think of anyone less likely to buy it to be honest. I can think of plenty of people less likely. More likely? I'm struggling.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 If they seriously want to get out asap then could there be any chance that Venky's will decide to sell some players (i.e. Samba, Pedersen, Robbo) and keep the money from the Phil Jones transfer and then try and sell the club on the cheap and prepare to suffer a small loss?
Paul Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Have I imagined it or did someone suggest a couple of months ago that Fred Walker was so upset about what he saw a the destruction of Jacks and the Walker families legacy that he was considering doing something about it?... That story has certainly been around for a while. I think it makes sense, whether it's true or not is a different matter.

There is a big gap between wondering about whether you would be as well getting rid and finding a buyer to make that happen. The Trust found that out and took about four years to get there. You don't want that level of uncertainty again. Williams. Finn et al did NOT find a buyer remember. Not much of a triumph there. That was Jerome Anderson.

The first post on this thread, did say about the owners may have already talked to an interested party. Nothing how far that went or if talks were still on going.

jim mk2 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 When I find out what has caused the change of direction I will be over it like a rash. In the meantime you stick to writing the headlines - even if there isn't a story to go with it. And keep taking those meds. The fact there has been a change of direction IS a story - and the cause is another story. You should write the story - and you deserve a boll*cking from your news editors. I'm feeling fine thanks.
PAFELL Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 That story has certainly been around for a while. I think it makes sense, whether it's true or not is a different matter. Possible scenario. Sent you PM Paul this afternoon The fact there has been a change of direction IS a story - and the cause is another story. You should write the story - and you deserve a boll*cking from your news editors. I'm feeling fine thanks. Only an idiot write a half story, when the full one is yet to be known. anyway it would be wrong, maybe even libelous to do so. After all, what is the rumour is false, it would make the story false. Facts have to be checked before going to print etc.

Cool, thanks its nice to know no one is allowed to talk about this story. Even though the mods posted it as a topic to discuss.......
Teacup Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 So, if this is true, does that mean we got lied to when Kean said they offered Jones that silly wage to keep him? I assume Venky's wouldn't make that sort of offer and would of preferred to sell anyway? Also, what is the hold up with Samba, they might as well just sell him for a decent amount of money while they can. Before we get relegated.
Halstead Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 confused as to why you would start a thread on this issue, when you are unwilling to say any sources or any FACTS to me it looks to me that people like to act in the know !!!!
