Just a heads up but nicko has an article due to go live at 11 about a striker, wont say if its the same one, but says its a good deal. (That is, IF they post the article)

Can't say I have heard anything about Olsson over the summer except he is happy at Rovers, although would he be the type of player who would interest Arsenal especially as they have good coinage to spend and Clichy has left?

Hope it just a rumour with no substance, and he aint a bargaining tool for potential deals with Arsenal

Why would Arsenal want Olsson as left back when they have one better in Keiran Gibbs, I would swap them in a heartbeat!!

I'd say he is as much of a left back as Rafael from Manure is a right back. Nobody would say he isn't a full back.

Well, at least it appears progress is being made and with Petrovic and the lad from Sporting, a bit of quality too, Lansbury could be good, been at a good club, will play the right way, however, as I said yeaterday, my concern is the balance of the team/squad and I am not yet convinced this has been addressed!

We need a striker now and a defender who is ready now too, waiting until October for them to be ready could be too late.

If we could get Raul and a top centre back, I would really be optimistic, until those two areas are addressed I have to reserve judgement.

Agree, good that we do seem to be 'active' but I think there is a smack of desperation about it all. There's a much of a muchness about some of our newer and would be signings.

You do wonder who has scouted some of these.

Hope it's not Christmas before some of these lads find their legs.

Hope he drops the name if it doesn't make the online edition, his past couple of Rovers stories have not made it.

Defensively we aren't too bad if George signs (covers centre half and defensive midfield) AND Samba stays. A new right back and left back would be nice - but if I remember correctly we have a couple of good youth team guys that can help cover and we already have two players to cover each position (Emo & Salgado, Givet and Olsson).

:lol: I didnt believe it, BUT you have to check for odds and see if they start to move. If they do, you get on it.....it came up on here about 5 mins after someone was saying it was possibly a striker from spurs....2+2 = 8 lol :lol:

Yes, the more I hear of young Adam Henley, the more I like, lets hope he gets some playing time in the Carling Cup, I feel he will do Ok.

My feeling is this, Had we got a commanding centre back, a stronger midfield and a proven goalscorer, we would have mullered Wolves, so Petrovic and NZonzi in midfield would give us a strong midfield, so, if we signed a centre back ant good striker who are both ready, we are close to the balance required but they have to be ready now!!

Don't know whether those ITK can confirm, however, Newcastle were supposed to have inquired about both Hoilett and Olsson earlier in the summer.

Newcastle would never buy him. Ashley is happily asset stripping their squad, and replacing them with cheap Frenchmen. Carroll went for £35m, Nolan for £3-4m, Enrique for £9m, and they still have Ameobi as a first team striker, and no sight of a replacement left back. Any bit of quality will be cashed in ASAP at St. James' Park, and replaced with cheaper options. Olsson would not be one of them.

P.S. Has the dutch-based striker been named yet?

If Samba was partnered with Hanley and N'Zonzi was back in midfield we'd have beaten Wolves. They're awful.
