magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Until the player signs for us or for Rangers I think its premature to be blaming anyone for what is going on. On the one hand Kean may have shot himself in the foot by delaying the medical for a few days, on the other, Goodwillie may have been angling for the Rangers move all along and wasn't going to sign for us regardless or maybe he is still due to sign for us, the medical wasn't planned for today in the first place and he should still move in the next two days. The point is that there are so many conflicting reports its not really worth attributing any blame to anyone before we actually know what's gone on. Would this have happened under the Trust? Who knows and quite frankly who cares. Its irrelevant. Steve Kean and the owners know that they will be judged come the end of this window and if they fail to deliver then they shall quite rightly be held accountable. They're not stupid people and will know that if they cannot produce a couple of decent signings then the fans will be united against them. Its in their best interests to get their act together fast. If they hold any desire to get the fans on board then they'll start to spend money now.

Teacup Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I thought I was the only one!! He knew he was on camera I think haha Was it this one?
Hekla Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Guys relax, there isn't any sign that he will move to Rangers. It has been said that he would prefer to move to England. I trust 'roversfanben' with his comments from his contact, he is usually correct so I will trust his post.
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Cast your mind back to Rovers under the Trust, JW and Sam and recognise how lunatic all this sounds. My goodness we are in one hell of a mess for a Venky apologist like you being reduced to scraping the underside of the bucket like that for good news. Better than an Ali Syed apologist.
braddock Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 We'll find out soon enough. Patience. Better than an Ali Syed apologist. Direct hit.
philipl Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 Missed actually. Anyway, the big risk to watch for is Rangers' outgoings....
Parsonblue Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Personally, I take the view that if he signs he signs and if he prefers to play for Rangers so be it. I think it shows how desperate we are for a signing that we are getting worked up over a player who scored 17 goals last season. Let's not forget that Nick Blackman scored ten in half a season with Motherwell and we all know how poor Blackman is. I don't know if Goodwille will turn out to be a decent signing or not. Apart from the pre-season game a couple of years ago I haven't seen him play. If he does come to Ewood, I hope expectations won't be too great. The lad will need time to settle and will probably need a dozen games or more before we can start to make an assessment of him.
donnermeat Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Was it this one? Yes! Me and my mate literally laughed out loud. He did another one just a couple minutes later as well. Its like he has just finished reading the F.A. Rule handbook. He can't perfect anything else on the pitch (hope he proves me wrong) so he may as well be remembered for something.

You say that Blackman is poor from what you have seen of him, which is probably not a lot, yet you say Goodwillie needs games in order to make an assessment???
roversfanben Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 JohnHarris70 john harris Rangers have bidded £2.1m plus 500k add ons, for David Goodwillie in the last half hour. Source is 'Bomber'. Still don't believe it, but time will tell.

roversfanben Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 My source is still adamant that he will come back to Ewood for a medical. The above tweet is from a guy who is new to Twitter, so I don't really believe it. He is currently the only person who has posted any such news on Twitter.
John Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 What are Rangers up to with all these rejected bids?
roversfanben Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 JohnHarris70 john harris Rangers bid of £2.1m plus 500k has been rejected. United want a 'higher' offer than BBR and have been told to pay £2.2m plus 700k add ons. Falls in line with what I said earlier, maybe he is telling the truth.
callumrovers Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 As I said earlier, and I am now 99% confident that this info is correct. He will be joining Rovers, he is not playing us, and he will not be joining Rangers. He only came down today to be shown around the club, why this couldn't wait until he met Steve Kean, I have no idea. But the player himself is not the problem. This, coupled with the press, have blown this out of all proportions. I will admit, when I said he was having a medical, I was just going off a Tweet from a Scottish reporter, rather than waiting for confirmation from my source who has this far been 100% correct regarding Goodwillie. Remember, I told you on Saturday that he wouldn't sign until Tuesday or Wednesday, and after speaking to my source he has once again confirmed this. He said the medical was NEVER due to take place today, and it's simply a case of the idiotic press once again getting ahead of themselves. He has assured me that he will be back at Rovers tomorrow, and he will complete his medical and be a Rovers player by the end of the day (tomorrow) I guess i was wrong..

donnermeat Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Bomber Harris? *quickly trying to come up with a witty Snatch related comment. And failing* I believe Ben I think he will eventually sign for us, just bad timing with Kean being in India. I don't blame people for thinking otherwise though, not with our history already in this window.
barry_ Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I put my faith in you. a report from scotland saying he'll train with Dundee tuesday http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/dundee-united/264584-david-goodwillie-returns-to-scotland-without-blackburn-rovers-resolution/
Kelbo Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 The posters who are so aghast that it might not be happening didn't want him in the first place. Go figure Go figure, quite like the look of the lad, obviously Bucky, you have not read my post about what proper managers do when they want to sign a player. Oh, now I figure, Kean didnt want him, thats why he couldnt be bothered getting here!! That would never have happened before. Roy *cough* Keane Not going to argue with you, entitled to your opinions, cant for the hell of me see what you base them on!
alexanders Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 a report from scotland saying he'll train with Dundee tuesday http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/dundee-united/264584-david-goodwillie-returns-to-scotland-without-blackburn-rovers-resolution/ NO quotes. Only understands.
roversfanben Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Rangers will not bid again tonight. Even if they somehow match our bid (which they won't) they won't be able to offer him the money that we can offer him.
braddock Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 We all know that if we make this signing and it goes through, those who are moaning will then moan he's not good enough. I've no idea if the guy is good enough, all I know is that the above sentence will apply.
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Missed actually. Anyway, the big risk to watch for is Rangers' outgoings.... Wrong again.
