roversmum Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 So you are told figures (which may or may not be correct) and use that information. Maybe it would have been better if he didn't mention it at all, but then, that would be wrong, wouldn't it?
m1st Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I suppose it's immaterial now; but can someone please explain to Kean that, if 1% demonstrate to show their unhappiness at him being our manager, it does NOT follow that the remaining 99% are happy to have him remain in post. As someone said to me on the bus going down to the game on Saturday, we were in a real dilemma before the game: do we want the three points which guarantees him at least another week in charge; or do we want to stay on the bottom of the table and increase the pressure on him? It now seems clear that he's not going to be sacked any time soon so, as FourLaneBlue said, It is time we all started sticking together a bit more instead of fighting amongst ourselves. Whatever we might think of the owners or the manager.

Maybe it would have been better if he didn't mention it at all, but then, that would be wrong, wouldn't it? Maybe Kean should engage brain before mouth, if he has one, Watching Kean on the MOTD made me want to throw up, we are still in deep sh1t
Hughesy Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 If you think that we can go into games with the type of midfield we put out against Arsenal then gents you need to see a doctor. Come on we played that against Arshavin, Arteta, Ramsey & Song…..hardly the worst midfield in the league…….against poorer teams that midfield will cause all sorts of problems.
Guest Rovers4Good Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 He took the 1% off the people that marched. Also, the guy is a fool of the highest regard. The protest was all about wanting Kean out and not about showing it during the game, he puts his own little spin on things and for me he still has to go. Come on we played that against Arshavin, Arteta, Ramsey & Song…..hardly the worst midfield in the league…….against poorer teams that midfield will cause all sorts of problems. Sue, but can you tell me which one of these actually played well on Sat?
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Come on we played that against Arshavin, Arteta, Ramsey & Song…..hardly the worst midfield in the league…….against poorer teams that midfield will cause all sorts of problems. We might see a shoot-out in games as the defensive part of our midfield is that woeful. A tactic that Blackpool employed and how did that work out for them?
Fife Rover Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Yesterday was a great result and Kean's passion was commendable, He must have felt under all sorts of pressure with the Protest, media coverage ect. This has been brought on by results, If he had been any other manager at any other club, i'm pretty sure the feeling amongst some fans would of been the same. I still don't here Steve Kean's Blue and White Army on Ewood which to me is a better indication of fans opinion as its a song we have always sung about all our managers. My opinion has not changed, and I would be thrilled to have it changed if he can produce a chain of results, Which gives me something to look forward to.I have never liked protest and to be part of one, must have put me in a state of mind of pure desperation. Football has always been pretty much part of my life, My spare cash and time goes on it, as I spend hours every week talking about football, before spending plenty each weekend by seeing my team play. This week I have alienated the very people I love, and respect, which is my wife and children because Blackburn Rovers and organising a protest March has taken all my free time. My youngest daughter of three , who has just turned two has being crying for my attention all week to clour with her, or play in her tent, or just spend a little time with her. My wife who I married in May this year, Has spent each evening on her own, and had to go to bed alone, only to awake the following morning to me still being up, and getting ready to go to work. I thought I was a decent person because family values have always been what I have based my life and goals on, but this week I have seriously let them down because I feel my football club has let me down and I wanted to tell them so. Why I have taken football so seriously over my family is unforgivable, and i'm ashamed today that my families life has been turned upside down, because of football. If the club cared about its fans as much as we cared about the club, then I would never have had to result to drastic measure's. I'm pleased we won yesterday, but still have serious concerns, I can't help the way I feel, but its what it is Glen:- First of all many thanks from all us Rovers fans for your recent efforts. Having said that I would urge you PLEASE...forget everything to do with the Rovers for now. It is vital that you turn immediately to your wife and children and give them ALL your attention for as long as it takes to restore their confidence in your love and feelings for them. THEY are the only ones that REALLY matter; football is no more than a pastime, and your loved ones are the most precious and totally irreplaceable things in your life. Show them just how MUCH they mean to you, and do it NOW as a matter of urgency. The Rovers will still be there when you have restored stability in your family life, and that will be the the most rewarding thing you can do right now. I am hoping and praying for you and yours.
JC4LAB Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I think the next homes games are City Chelsea Tottenham.so our climb to safety isnt imminent just yet..Wins and Draws needed here at least to Save his bacon...

[quote} There was a demonstration to have him removed from his job so Kean had to mention it but the words he used were crass and only alientated him towards fans even further. Kean should keep his public pronouncements to a minimum until we have 40-plus points on the board this season. Then he would be entitled to talk.....
Amo Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Sue, but can you tell me which one of these actually played well on Sat? No credit for our players then?

He also said that the other 99% supported the team in the stadium, implying that his "1%" didn't. Weasel.
Mr Maureen Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Thanks to the win against Arsenal,Steve Kean has been granted a stay of excecution until maybe late Feb 12, by that time we will be relegated.
gumboots Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 He also said that the other 99% supported the team in the stadium, implying that his "1%" didn't. Weasel. That was the most annoying bit of what he said. The whole point of protesting as it was done was so that in the stadium there was no dissent and the fans were wholly behind the team on the pitch. I'd still like to see the back of him and I was one of those who have tried to give him time. The decisions he made about team selection on Saturday had even me, who knows little about tactics team selection etc, worried before the game and the way Givet was taken apart in the first half was frightening.
den Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 The decisions he made about team selection on Saturday had even me, who knows little about tactics team selection etc, worried before the game and the way Givet was taken apart in the first half was frightening. Everyone on here knew that Givet [and Salgado] have had no cover for a number of games now. So why couldn't he see that? Anyone?
AggyBlue Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 So why couldn't he see that? Anyone? That's just another assumption Den.
glen9mullan Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Just been shown by Sky Sports Keans Presser today, and given my response, It will be shown on Sky Sports news after 12pm, He still has lots of issues to address and his % use is still being used
Plastic Head Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Like him or not, one thing is for sure is that Kean is divisive. Both among the fans and inside the club. This cannot be a good thing. The club needs to be united in it's current position.
dubdubdub Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 So one game causes a huge swing in the vote. Not....surprised....at....all... Football fans are fickle. At least some people have the ability to reassess a situation though unlike others.

I can't believe that somebody -1'd this. Your family and life is always more important than football. It goes without saying.
dubdubdub Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 He also said that the other 99% supported the team in the stadium, implying that his "1%" didn't. Weasel. What was the man supposed to say? Based on the amount who protested then only 1% ish were passionate enough to get off their asses. Hence the other lot who you lot somehow know about, the 90% of fans, could easily be seen as indifferent. Then was he supposed to praise the asses who protested and agree with their motives? Think not. Think.
daveoftherovers Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Collymore having his 50p worth, he has made a couple of valid points mind: http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/news/2011/09/18/collymore-it-s-steve-bruce-who-s-failing-to-produce-not-rovers-kean-bean-102039-23427988/ For me, Kean still isn't my choice, but we are stuck with him, the owners have backed him and the players are obviously still backing him, so that entitles him to the benefit of the doubt. In fairness to him, and in the spirit of balance (As we've all had a pop, me included!) He must have balls of steel He's obviously up for a fight He made some positive tactical changes against Arsenal, and motivated the players at half time He's made a high proportion of decent signings and has got rid of some deadwood He's clearly getting mullered over a private issue (Which we wouldn't find acceptable) He was offered and took a GOLDEN opportunity, a chance in a life time! Who wouldn't? Honestly? A lot of the "Rumours" have been complete testicles! (The players train for 1 hour a day, being just 1 of many) The owners to a certain extent have hung him out to dry with their poor PR and communication skills The style of football is better than under BS, period AND He's entitled to have a pop back after what a number of us have said, wrote and sung to him, if you don't like it, don't dish it out?! He's entitled to bite back. The most positive note for me is that the owners are responding and look like they actually get it! Bottom line is that I am old enough, big enough and ugly enough to be able to say I'm wrong "IF" he proves me wrong, I would happily shake his hand and offer to buy him an orange juice / fund a taxi if he turns us round and he make steady and consistant progress, because it means my club is going the right direction. Remember, you can't have it both ways. My main beef was with the owners, they appointed him, have been a PR problem and their communication has been diabolical. If they are recyifying this, then fair play, let's move on. That's why I didn't protest about the manager, as my main beef was with the owners and not Kean, if other people want to protest etc. Then that's right, and actually, it was carried out quite sensibly IMHO, and in the main, was reported (In most quarters) in a balanced way. Onwards and upwards.
Mattyblue Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Football fans are fickle. At least some people have the ability to reassess a situation though unlike others. No doubt football fans are fickle. But there are many, many fans tha constantly change their views, often after one good or bad result. that's not exactly reassesing a situation rationally, is it?

As fans and individuals we each draw a line at the point where enough is enough. For some of us Kean has gone beyond that point and for other he hasn't reached it yet. For myself he hasn't reached my line yet. That's not to say he won't, he just hasn't yet.
