Backroom Tom Posted November 10, 2011 Backroom Share Posted November 10, 2011 I think we need a thread to discuss this. Tomorrow is skyrim day and it will be glorious. No spoilers in here though but feel free to discuss random findings and experiences. So who else is getting it and losing their spare time? BiggusLaddus
Certainly hope to be. I 'invested' a ridiculous amount of hours into oblivion and then topped that with both fallout 3 and new vegas.
Clitherover
Lucky buggers who are getting this, I can't afford it at least till after Christmas. Will be game of the year I reckon.
BuckyRover
ASDA have ###### me over. Won't be buying anything from them again.
Backroom Tom Posted November 10, 2011 Author Backroom Share Posted November 10, 2011 ASDA have ###### me over. Won't be buying anything from them again. My order said on backorder this morning but changed to fully despatched, I expect it Monday
Rover Down Under
I know if I buy this I can kiss goodbye to a few hundred hours of my life (as I did with Oblivion and to a lesser extent with Fallout 3 & New Vegas). Too hard to resist though, the escapism from the mundane aspects of life is...what exactly?! Answers on a postcard please.
davulsukur
Played Oblivion to death, i actually started it again in prep for Skyrim. My Mrs bought me Arkham City for my birthday so i wanna get that played through first. I will cave in and buy Skyrim soon tho, i have some birthday cash burning a hole in my wallet. Hughesy
Game are doing £5 when you trade in certain selected new games. Whats Skyrim all about?
Amo
Game are doing £5 when you trade in certain selected new games. Whats Skyrim all about? In brief, a "sandbox" style fantasy action-RPG where you roam the land fighting dragons, orcs, ghouls and just about everything else out to kill you. There's A LOT more to it than that, what with sidequests, NPC interaction, crafting etc. but that's the gist of it.
Ozz
Sounds great.
BuckyRover
It's now fully despatched. I have no idea why they waited until this morning. I hope I get my parchment map!
RibbleValleyRover
No spoilers required, but just wondering how buggy is the game? Specifically the Xbox 360 version? Bethesda have a pretty bad rep when it comes to releasing 'finished' games.
Backroom Tom Posted November 11, 2011 Author Backroom Share Posted November 11, 2011 Meant to be some dodgy textures in the 360 version specifically shadows. Mine just turned up, GOTY already and I haven't started yet just for the parchementy map, actual colour manaul and menu music
Clitherover
Bethesda have a pretty bad rep when it comes to releasing 'finished' games. Fallout New Vegas on the PS3 was a nightmare, never had any problems with Oblivion and had that on 360 and PS3 .
American Rover12
Just wondering if I should go and play Oblivion before this game? Is it necessary? Will it help in an over arching story?
BuckyRover
No. It's set in a area different to Oblivion and a few hundred years apart. You could play it after if you enjoy it. I take everything I said about ASDA back. It arrived today. Happy days. Not played it yet.
Backroom Tom Posted November 12, 2011 Author Backroom Share Posted November 12, 2011 Game is brilliant played about 4-5 hours so far and as with oblivion I set off to do something and then see something on my map and spend an hour diverted. Already have 6 or 7 side missions unstarted as well.
Exiled_Rover
Should arrive tomorrow. I've watched a few streams and I simply can't decide what class to play. Probably mage....but archery looks fun too.
BuckyRover
The class system is not enforced. You choose a race but your skills are mostly determined by your actions. I'm just loading it up now!
roverandout
is this game like dragonage? if so i am keeping well clear.
BiggusLaddus
It's got dragons in if that counts? Took me a while to get into it, but I think I'm now hooked. Got two games going simultaneously atm, big nord with an even bigger hammer and a khagiit assassin / thief.
BuckyRover
I played for a ridiculously long time yesterday and I can't wait to get home and play some more!
BiggusLaddus
My big nord is now a werewolf. But the big hammer has been swapped for a big axe.
Amo
Just wondering if I should go and play Oblivion before this game? Is it necessary? Will it help in an over arching story? You'll probably appreciate Skyrim a helluva lot more.
