But of course, the players who wouldnt have gone along with it had all left, Salgado, Nelsen, Samba, Emerton etc, good honest pro's - we were left with quite a number of foreign players and we dont know too much about them!!

Team against Spurs:

Robinson

Orr Dann Givet Olsson (Marcus)

Formica Lowe Dunn Pedersen

Hoillett Yakubu

with Modeste and Goodwille coming off the bench.

So hypothetically you're effectively saying those 13 players all were in on any plans not to have a shot. If the conspiracy theory is to work, of course.

And how many fit the description of "foreign players .. we don't know much about". ?

I think it was Matt LeTissier who admitted he tried a betting scam involving betting on the 'first throw-in'. He'd bet 'under 2mins' and spent the whole 2 mins trying to put the ball out of play. 'Never again after that', so he said ;)

Read The Fix. It is a complete guide on how to fix matches.

You don't need to compromise more than two players.

You would have to compromise 13 players in this case. If the thought is that we had a plan not to make a single shot, EVERY player would have to be in on it, otherwise someone might do so unwittingly; either deliberately or accidentally (maybe Orr finds himself in space and has a crack, or Robbo takes a freekick from the edge of our half that goes goalwards for example).

Most damning indictment for Venky's is that Ali Syed (a wanted con man on the run from Interpol) has given more to the community of Blackburn than their two years in charge.

Indeed. Don't know where it came from and despite Jesus turning over the tables of the money lenders the Cathedral Choir certainly don't appear to be be too bothered either. ^_^

I'd say one-----the goalkeeper! Last minute fumble and all that.

Other than that, just one of the officials.

Other than that one player to commit an obvious foul or handball in the penalty area

No need to attempt to bribe an entire team--- it wouldn't work.

The Spurs game is beyond me, have never been able to work that one out. Perhaps Kean will take the secret to his grave.

Nonsense. If you have the midfield/attackers bribed then how are the defenders going to get up to have a shot? They'd have to take on the whole opposition team just to get up the other end of the pitch.

Regardless, do bookies even do bets on a team having zero shots? Surely if there was any dodgyness the bet would have just been a Spurs win/clean sheet. In which case realistically only Kean needs to be compromised to set up the team in such a way that it's extremely unlikely we'll score, and highly likely we'll concede.

Premier League sport is played at very high levels where fractions of fitness determine win or lose as much as outright ability.

Have a couple of players faking it in a side and a manager giving instructions not to risk giving the ball away at all cost and not to shoot from distance then against a side as good as Tottenham and....

Particularly if you remember that Spurs played well within themselves but covered every attempt by Rovers to get out of our own half.

Have you never seen any match where a full back finds themselves in space on the half way line, runs 30 yards and takes a wildshot that sails wildly over the target? Or the keeper or centre back takes a free kick and it heads towards the opposition goal?

Anyone in a team could have a shot. That is a fact. Therefore, to guarantee this stupid idea that the Spurs game was a fix would take everyone to be in on it. Not 2 or 3 players as philipl is suggesting, or even half a dozen players that you are.

Regardless of the clear issues around betting scams and the like, to say that the match vs Spurs was anything other than Rovers being utter @#/?, is where the nonsense comes in, The tactic may have been to play within themselves, but this doesn't equate to deliberately for nefarious reasons not taking a shot.

One other game that stands out is the Man United home game, we went 1-0 down but didn't change system or make any attempt to get an equaliser. We didn't make one substitute that game even with Dunn,Rochina,Formica,Modeste on the bench, Man U made all 3 subs.

My position on Ali Syed was consistently.

Put the £300m into Rovers in a way it couldn't be removed and you can have the club.

Would you rather have had £300m in the bank and ownership by a conman on the run from Interpol or what we have had under Venky's?

OK he got the £100m in Zurich vouched for him (somehow) but if he hadn't come good with the £300m up front as he offered he wouldn't have been allowed to buy.

If we're talking conspiracy theories...

What manager in the history of the PL has talked more about positives and optimism than Kean? Has there ever been a manager who talked about qualifying for the Champion's League a few weeks after a near-relegation? Why was he so consistent in banging on about the bright future of the club, to a level that just became utterly deluded?

All the acting and "just a sincere bloke doing my best" won the media war last year and drew the attention onto the nasty Rovers fans. Was that whole deer-in-the-headlights thing done to make the media think that he was just hopelessly out of this depth and quell suspicions that something sinister was going on under the surface? The Tottenham match does make you think. He actually said "we'll take the positives" and Hoddle/ Wilkins looked utterly baffled. Keeping to the script of crap manager who was just spouting rubbish?

Just to update people a little .

We are going to ask Jack Straw if we can make the letter public which , He, Jake Berry , Graham Jones and the AG jointly compiled following the meetings last year with the authorities and with Hugh Robertson .

We can also confirm further meetings with the authorities have now also been authorised and we are just trying to agree a date which is mutually convenient (will more than likely be next month)

That's good news.

Never give up.

I'd rather be run by Venky's, frankly.

For all my criticism of the group, I can get behind this sort of thing. It's proactive and through appropriate channels. Hope some good comes of it mate.

Can you confirm which authorities you are going to meet, and the likely agendas? Understand the reasons if not, but thought it worthwhile asking.
