And then they sold the rights to Sky and most of those new cricket fans were left out in the cold. 1 Quote

Well pay for the Sky Subscription then if watching live cricket means that much to you. BBC doesn't have the funds to pay for Cricket rights and the other channels aren't interested Quote

47er Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Shame Root couldn't take that catch in the slips to give Archer 2 wickets in 2 balls just on lunch. Magnificent attempt though, very fast, very high. 1 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 27 Posted July 27 (edited) Something that occurred to me the other day. Why wasn’t Pant batting with a runner when he obviously had a very sore foot ? Edited July 27 by Tyrone Shoelaces 1 Quote

Apparently runners haven’t been allowed in International cricket since 2011! edited to add - just found this ( ‘hitters’ 🤦♂️🤦♂️): Edited July 27 by wilsdenrover 2 Quote

To be honest we didn’t develop many in the past. Off the top of my head I can only think of a few. One who played for Lancashire and England learnt his early cricket on the common I live facing - Tommy Greenhough. The old guys on here will remember him. It’s a difficult art to master. I tried as I kid and managed to get the leg break going sort of ok. Just for fun, I’d stick to what I knew in real games. Funny thing - when I leant to bowl the googly I lost the ability to bowl the leg break. Shane Warne was a freak. Probably the best spin bowler of all time. His level of accuracy was amazing for a wrist spinner. Edited July 27 by Tyrone Shoelaces 1 Quote

They didn't see to many wrist spinners in world cricket I tried to become a wrist spinner 25 years ago but the lack of coaching and people telling to drop it and just become a medium pacer bowler. Shane Warne was a great cricketer and a legend. 47er Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Both Stokes and Archer ruled out of 5th Test. Bloody hell, India are going to draw the series aren't they? Quote
jim mk2 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Stokes and Archer are like vintage cars - push them too hard and they break down Atkinson and Overton have themselves had injury problems this summer while Wood is a walking hospital case These players don't play anything the amount of "red ball" (first class county) matches like those of the past and perhaps that's the problem - they're not match hardened Quote

Gav Posted July 31 Posted July 31 England win the toss and bowl under cloudy skies, we need early wickets, taking advantage of these conditions. Come on England. Quote
