expecting a draw, the pitch is flat and don't forget that Lancashire have drawn all 4 home games this season.

the last test was full of entertainment.

2005 Ashes series was full of entertainment and excitement, plus it got people interested in test match cricket again.

And then they sold the rights to Sky and most of those new cricket fans were left out in the cold.

Well pay for the Sky Subscription then if watching live cricket means that much to you.

BBC doesn't have the funds to pay for Cricket rights and the other channels aren't interested

I think we’ve broken India 😁

Aye, can’t see them reaching 311, with that start. Even if they do, will be a very quick run chase, I’d have thought 😅.

I thought it might be all over today.

I’m starting to think we’d need a day six.

It's a problem Lancs have faced for years too - that Old Trafford pitch just doesn't deteriorate. It's too hard.

Looks like I was wrong, these things happen.
Hindsight sees in 20/20.

Shame Root couldn't take that catch in the slips to give Archer 2 wickets in 2 balls just on lunch.

Magnificent attempt though, very fast, very high.

Something that occurred to me the other day. Why wasn’t Pant batting with a runner when he obviously had a very sore foot ?

Yeah I wondered that as well.

They (the BBC) said he wasn’t allowed a runner.

Rules must have changed, don’t know when or how.

Runners now banned in club cricket at our level, not sure if the pro game has banned them too

Why change a rule that has worked well for decades.

Perhaps it was felt teams were ‘abusing’ the rule?

Apparently runners haven’t been allowed in International cricket since 2011!

edited to add - just found this ( ‘hitters’ 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️):

Putting revenue above results?

hardly, the pitch needed a wrist spinner. I wonder how something like the great Shane Warne would have bowled on the pitch

We don’t seem to develop wrist spinners these days Chaddy. To be honest we didn’t develop many in the past. Off the top of my head I can only think of a few. One who played for Lancashire and England learnt his early cricket on the common I live facing - Tommy Greenhough. The old guys on here will remember him.

It’s a difficult art to master. I  tried as I kid and managed to get the leg break going sort of ok. Just for fun, I’d stick to what I knew in real games. Funny thing - when I leant to bowl the googly I lost the ability to bowl the leg break.

Shane Warne was a freak. Probably the best spin bowler of all time. His level of accuracy was amazing for a wrist spinner.

They didn't see to many wrist spinners in world cricket

I tried to become a wrist spinner 25 years ago but the lack of coaching and people telling to drop it and just become a medium pacer bowler.

Shane Warne was a great cricketer and a legend. One of my favourite ever cricketer along with Sachin Tendulkar, James Anderson, Darren Gough and Alec Stewart
