Ewoodite Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 What is going on with their website these days? There is never anything of any interest on it - apart from stories that were on Rovers site the day before - and loads of spelling mistakes in headlines. What is the headline about in the Dyche story? I know local press is hard but come on? Has Chris Flanagan left? I have learnt nothing from the site for weeks.

BPF Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I'm not sure if you read the article about the NYC Rovers in there but they totally butchered it. I appreciate any press coverage but it read like the reporter allowed his six year old son to write it as a homework assignment. The grammar and spelling mistakes alone provided the reader with the feeling that it must have been written by a dyslexic Dutchman. Worse than that though, the FOUNDER of the NYC Rovers. The guy that has put his heart into this trying to get it off the ground for years had his name removed as was refered to as SOMEBODY!!! Insanity.

Newspapers are cutting back staff, stories are not checked properly and mistakes are not corrected. LET owners Johnston Press are one of the worst.
McClarky Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 They don't seem interested in tomorrow's game at all. Is the paper itself as bad?
davulsukur Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I think it went downhill when cryer left.
folkdevil Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 The LT is not owned by Johnston Press but Newsquest who produce the paper along with the Bolton News. Johnston Press deal with the Preston and Burnley area along with others. Andy Cryer was temporarily replaced by Chris Flanagan but they now have appointed Paul Wheelock who's previously worked with his local paper in Chester. My own opinion is that the recent price rise for the LT has probably meant decreased circulation hence limited or delayed info on the website.
jim mk2 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Yes, you're right. Johnston own the Evening Post in Preston. Newsquest has a poor reputation too with low pay levels and staff morale.
Bundesburn Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I've just read some of Paul Wheelock's copy and it is dry. Not as bad as the Flanagan (sp?) lad's stuff, I should note. Did they sack him? I've half a mind to apply for his job. He began a sentence with "And," for Christ's sake.

Ewoodite Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 I just think it has got very boring. Look at the report on their website and it is boring, there is no character. On Monday it will be quotes from Rhodes and Bowyer - that we have all heard already - and from what I have seen over the past couple of weeks a very boring report with no personality. Last year the LET would have made a thing of Burnley calling Blackburn cheap and unprofessional on their twitter account but they won't now because there is no balls in the paper anymore. Why did Wheelock stick the Leon Best story away - surely that is the pressing issue, but they don't want to upset the club or anyone. Have some guts.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Peter White is very much missed.
Bundesburn Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 And? Might just be a stylistic preference, but it looks amateurish to me, especially in a report. I can see the merits when in opinion pieces or copy that needs/benefits from a more conversational style. Otherwise, a real pet hate, along with "different to."
tomphil Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 The club seemed to have reeled the Telegraph in now. You might as well just read the official club website as that's all they seem to copy. It might help if they get a bloody journo who actually supports and/or knows something about the club and fans.
Ewoodite Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 Doesn't stop them from original journalism. Can't be bothered to ready any of it any more. I used to. Is it just me?

Ewoodite Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 The first line of their match report on Saturday. ] THE 100th competitive East Lancashire derby ended all square. That is terrible.
thenodrog Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 It's not just the sport, the entire paper is chock full of bad grammar and (heaven forbid in this age of spellchecker) poor spelling. I don't bother with it much these days and I'm sure the ever increasing dedication to asian stuff is a late and last gasp bid to court new readers. Whether that proves successful or not is I'm sure of little consequence to anybody who isn't directly involved in it's publication.
Stuart Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 They've backed down on price by all accounts, and they need to. Ramping up the quantity (pages) and sacrificing the (limited) quality was a really bad move.
Ewoodite Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 Only on saturday I believe. Price still 65p every day. I don't want a newspaper that just acts a club newspaper - been like that for last few months and it is pointless.
Ewoodite Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 As expected, today another rhodes article on back saying what we all heard him say on saturday on radio and on club website. What is the point? No mention of burnley fc calling blackburn unprofessional or leon best. I don't read the paper so haven't seen the report.
Al Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Never read the rag these days apart from a bit on the back page in the ASDA "library".
Stuart Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Think it's just the specs mate. Haha, you know, Paul...
Guest Norbert Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I think it could be seen as racist that Shebby is 'whiting up'. First time I've seen it though since some awful Lenny Henry film from about 1990.
