Yes the bullying way that football supporters are treated by plod is scandalous.

A few years ago my eldest son and I were having a quiet Saturday afternoon pint in one of the pubs on Deansgate In Manchester, the Hogshead I think. Wigan were playing City at Maine Road that day and I noticed that the pub was gradually filling up with Wigan fans. They were singing and a bit boisterous but no real trouble. About 2.00 pm the Riot Squad turned up and starting moving all the Wigan fans outside. I saw them take a full pint off a guy that had just arrived and march him outside.

Foolishly my son and I decided to leave at the same time. When we got to the door and tried to turn left back into town the police barred our way. The copper said " Turn right and follow that lot, we're taking you to the ground " ! I said " I'm not going to the game, I'm not a Wigan fan ". The copper replied " You are today pal, get walking or get arrested" ! We were being marched down Deansgate for about 50 yards in amongst all the Wigan fans to a game I didn't want to go to. Luckily for us just as we passed an alleyway leading off to the right a gang of aggressive City fans appeared on the other side of the road and distracted our escort. I said to my son " Quick, up this alleyway and run like the bloody wind ".

With that stroke of good fortune we managed to get away.

I was disgusted with their arrogant behaviour that day.

I'm afraid that's typical. Once you are branded a football supporter you are fair game for the ones who join the plod just to be able to impose their will on the public. Just bullies in uniform.

So 3 young moslem girls buy airline tickets and clear off in anoraks popularised in the original East is East to figure in some fanatical holy war and their families say it's all the fault of the Metropolitan Police! Grief! No mention of the brainwashing that they will have received as infants in some dodgy madrassah by a random unregulated mullah, no mention of the insidious influence of their religion in general, nor the influence of their own community and most revealingly no blame or condemnation toward ISIS itself. God only knows why the Met commisionaire should feel the need to apologise.

Cue the Met being sued for not protecting their little darlings safety and not having their best interests at heart.

Whose going to start legal proceedings against Boko Harim then? How about issuing a summons to the Taliban who murdered so many innocents in the Pakistani Army school? We just aren't playing to the same rules are we?

Taxi for Clarkson this time I think.

Indeed. Shame cos he clearly isn't 'well ard' in fact he gives me the impression of being quite a wimp. I guess the bloke he clocked is

a. even wimpier

b. not ashamed for the entire population to know that he's been worked over by somebody called Jeremy.

Why didn't he just @#/? him back instead of crying to teecher? In my experience it would have been the obvious (and preferred) option.

Not a chance. He's far too popular worldwide. If BBC don't want to make Top Gear somebody else will, even if they have to change the name slightly Proper bloke is Clarkson. Loose women can't stand him and that will do for me.

I see the French are still sulking a few hundred years later

Brilliant! Don't you just love it?

Love him. love the programme. At least he says what he thinks, a welcome escape from Miranda Hart, Harry Hill, Claire Balding etc.

Top Gear worldwide earns the Beeb a feckin fortune, a mate of mine in the states tells me that an army of fans wait for the episodes to air on BBC America.

It wouldn't be the same with anyone else.

CAN'T believe Jim hasn't been on with "big headed petrol head, tory, right wing, mysoginistic, etc etc

He's an obnoxious cretin that I can't stand myself. If he has punched this guy then he should be fired.

Unless people are advocating violence at work?

There's definitely something weird in that they have cancelled the final 3 episodes of the series, surely the other 2 guys could have carried on for 3 weeks. There's obviously some pre-recordrd stuff that would contain JC but so what.

The producer punched has apparently said he hasnt made any kind of complaint.

There's something in the fact that the racist thing was kept quiet for 2 years, then released. I reckon there's an element of a stitch up, BUT, if he's done what he's accused of doing then where do we draw the line?

If he's punched someone he should be subject to disciplinary action, however it seems somewhat of an overreaction to cancel the rest of the series.

I don't know but it seems to me there may be something more to this.

Clarksons TV persona is just that, a personal he puts on for the cameras like a sitcom character, he doesn't say what he thinks, he says what will get a laugh or attention(and most of the show is blatantly scripted and rehearsed) fair play to him for that, I do find him entertaining and funny but I don't see him as anything other than a caricature and he definitely isn't the martyr he's made out to be by some people.

Gone are the days when you could have a dust up, then shake hands later, even if deep down you carry on despising the person.

I bet the Producer doesn't want this fuss. More like a Loony Executive wanting to replace Clarkson with Sue Perkins.
