I read this board for 3 years before joining. The fact the official board is no longer in operation ( I'm lead to believe as I have no idea about it ) will co-inside with an influx of new posters. Isn't that a good thing. Having more opinions, post , topics etc. I wouldn't protest in the early Kean era as I had absolutely no clue what was going on. This board (Glen inparticularly ) opened my eyes to what was happening and I've been on all protests since. All new posters should be welcomed with open arms

The problem is that new posters aren't members of the clique or one of the boys, which ridiculously makes it difficult to not get banned (especially if you have differing opinions to the 'seasoned posters'). Even though this board has lost loads of posters in the last few years, Mike seems intent on having even less people posting, incredibly stupid.

All you need to do is look at posts from say 2010. We've lost dozens and dozens of good posters.

So, we certainly shouldn't be banning folk for

a. Having a different opinion than the majority or

b. Falling foul of the new arbitary rules on 'insulting' material

Of course, the main reason for declining numbers is the state of the club. So, we should welcome any new members with open arms, as well as relaxing this new OTT approach to bans.

I'm relatively new, not part of any clique yet my posts are well received, the reason being I think about them and don't just post any old reactionary rubbish or say things simply to be contrary. Some new posters might want to take that on board.

Ban this guy! :P

Please go on my profile, check my posts and tell me if you think anything I've said warrants a ban.

Just caught up with this - fun stuff

I think the moderation of the forum absolutely should be up for discussion, the forum is only as good as it's members and it have to work for everyone or there's no point.

I do not think that such a discussion should be on the Football Messageboard. The Admin sections would be more appropriate.

I could then just ignore the daily moaners and stop trying to ascertain the deeper meanings of such words as brick and plank.

And to think that a poster was called out for starting s thread on Jacksie Willyshere.

This thread has been derailed and we'll not find a reason for the U-turn here.

Finally the Mods do a great job in most trying circumstances.

Well this is nonsense. About 5 of the apparent 'clique' were banned recently, 1 of whom is a mate of mine.

Recently the mod team took a stance of banning personal attacks or general nastiness. Unfortunately, newbies (who we don't know over time, so can't tell the tone of posts) get caught up in that.

I do, however, agree with Tom that it's time to relax again and tare a step back. I won't apologise for the 'week' bans, as I felt it was justified when posters are being told what's what by people who haven't been here 2 minutes.

But I'm happy to go along with the general feeling of relaxing the moderation again if other mods agree.

I am still genuinely staggered that grown men are getting upset/bent out of shape by stuff that happens on the internet.

Would you not rather this board be a better place? You say you come here a lot but aren't bothered that posters are being driven from the site because of overzealous, biased modding, really? It's a messageboard and the more contributors the better as far as I'm concerned.

100% spot on.

I think because of the migration from the erstwhile official board, a lot of the new posters 'hit the ground running'. This makes them seem shouty and arrogant very quickly.

If a local pub closed and all of the regulars migrated to another pub, would they stroll in like they owned the place on day 1 and not expect a reaction?

Such a cool stance man.

I've informed the police they can stand down and no longer need to investigate some of the filth that appears on the internet. Especially the really depraved criminal stuff.

Yes, because we all know that's EXACTLY what I was talking about, you know a free for all on the whole internet. Really enjoyed how you've deliberately blown all context out of the water there, it's kind of impressive how you can purposefully be so wide of the point.

What was I saying about people being deliberately contrarian, oh yeah, that's right..........

JacknOry said that yesterday, are you related?

It's brilliant to have new members on the site, but also pointless if they are all the same person I find. They all seem to say exactly the same thing eventually.

A huge over reaction, which makes me suspicious.

Do I need to repost the crying baby ?

Grow up (those who are on the wind up of being self righteous or precious). It's rather boring.

I was just making a crass generalisation like you.

See above.

Some graphic porn was posted on here once. My family saw it. When that happens to you you can react however you like. Maybe post a picture of a crying baby? That'd be funny.

Crack on chaps.

A grand performance you're putting on. You're channelling Mary Whitehouse. It's making me laugh. Is this your contribution to Comic Relief ?
