Just had a look on 11 v 11 and it adds a bit of confusion. It gives the date of the original game as 18 February and the replay as the 23rd rather than the 28th. It also lists the West Ham team but not the Rovers

The game was played on a Thursday according to newspapers at the time GHD. Both Clayton brothers played for Rovers by the looks of things too.

I think Frank Large played for Rovers , in the early 60s 

Metcalfe nearly scored with a header !

I seem to remember a bit of a punch up v Fulham outside or behind the pub that's no longer there  (can't remember the name ) on Bolton Rd near the ground in mid 70s ...

I always remember my old dad having a bit of a downer on Johnny Haynes because all the press at the time used to glorify him to some extent. My dad would say , “He’s good but he’s not as good as Duggie”

He was. He’d been a regular goalscorer in the lower leagues. We signed him a couple of years too late.

I was there and my abiding memory is of there being no grass on the pitch. Only saw 2 goals as my Dad wanted to miss the traffic, I was 5 years old at the time and this is probably one of my earliest Rovers memories.
