There's no denying that he was a great player but he's now being painted as one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots and this is just ridiculous. 

He was never even United's best midfielder and also wasn't really used in his natural position for England. 

Funnily enough I don't remember anyone waxing lyrical about him like this until years after he stopped playing, almost as though there's some rose tinted glasses revisionism from some and many others just blindly repeating this.

He's certainly up there but there's a few ahead of him that's for sure. 

Put ot this way, I never saw him play and came away thinking "fuck me what was that?" Always a solid player though, even though there's no way he'd have got away with half that dirty shit if he didn't get the protection from the refs.

But ok, if the metric to you is POTY over a sustained career at the very top winning everything in sight (I.e it’s a team sport) and you know, your own eyes, then fine, ‘Adam Wharton is far better.’
