Yes i'm all for protecting the assets but they jumped the gun there based more on the hype than anything, he obviously looked good in training but had about half a dozen good first team performances to his name.

Can only assume it was on modest money and that's why he's still here.

 He's on a free transfer and his contract here is till end of June so nothing will happen before then.

Out of contract players can sign for other clubs right now so if Derby have offer him a 2 years deal he would be asap, maybe this 2 years contract offer isn't correct?

don't believe Nicko actually said that to be fair about Batth. Think Nixon didn't believe Derby were offering a 2 year contract for Batth I think was his comment actually.

Well you can ask him, i can't iv'e been blocked since 2012 so have to rely on others quoting him.

The quote i saw said Rovers offered him a good deal but only 12 months and he wanted 2 years which Derby were willing to match.

With the clubs history I feel for anyone who thinks Batth, Weimann or (come on now) Dolan will be here next year.

Ordinarily no news is good news. Not with Rovers; many posters have predicted what is likely going on behind the scenes.

Fwiw I wouldn't offer Weimann a new contract, would offer Batth a year with an option for another and would be doing everything possible to get Dolan's signature.

We hadn't heard of Ohashi, Toth, De Neve etc.

No idea if the guy Swansea have signed is any good. Merely saying that they had spent big money on someone amidst saying that Burgess is a good signing.

On the free transfers, I think Gestede specifically mentioned that market when speaking to Elliott Jackson. Got to be proactive and offer decent wages or at least think outside the box.

On our own players. We always make excuses, we dont want to distract them, we need to know what division we are in. Its all bollocks as its preferable to get them signed up (or at least be 100% sure they wont sign) mid season to avoid the mess of having to simultaneously try to give existing players contracts (or at least pretend to try) and then deal with that and potentially replacing any that dont sign simultaneously with bringing in new players.

burgess is a big no nonsense centre back who would have been perfect for us,seeing a batth is "leaving" wharton won`t likely be the same player,hyam is a mard arse and carter is injury prone

Maybe having seen the circumstances around Eustace’s exit, and the clubs hierarchy refusing to even discuss contracts with established senior pro’s, Batth simply thinks “fuck that”.

We are so far behind in terms of funding and ambition for this level, yet a minority still amazingly want Venky’s in. Mind boggling stuff.

Suspect we’ll be eating Wrexham, Birmingham and Swansea’s dust in no time.

Rovers have billionaire owners with first team investment level of barely millionaires and it will only result in one thing.
