Apparently Tavares is out for a month...What a start!ย

All that fancy testing by the army of physios on day 1 did the trick then.

We're doing well with the fitness record of new signings, Kargbo, this fella.

Yes it was generally settled 10 of the starting 11 were the same for those last 6 gamesย

Just need squad consistency for most of the seasonย

Yet players seem to get injured far more now than back in " the good old days".

Can you imagine the top teams playing 60 or 70 games with a squad of 15 players now like they did in the 70's and 80's?

Lol.

Because thereโ€™s more demand now rightly or wronglyย

game is much faster and generally more fitness related as opposed to technicalย

I'm aware of all that. However notwithstanding the advent of sports science etc I wouldn't say our record in recent years of keeping players fit is particularly good.

Not sure whatย  the perception is elsewhere or in general.

Better get a few more in if they're going to be dropping like flies before we've played a competitive game..

Thinks it common all over we just obviously care more for rovers than anybody else but most teams are getting increased injuriesย

as you have alluded to though most other teams cover that we seem to struggle so we will def need to look at thatย

I was thinking how much faster the game is today as I watched the latest bout of walking football with the ball being passed between the keeper, centre backs, fullbacks, into midfield, back to the keeper etc etc. Zzzzzzzz.

As did on average the whole of the league people here really really missing the pointย

last summer many here said no szmodics equalled relegation as there was no way we could replace his goalsย

nobody could replace 27 goals but what we did was find ways to no be a one man team and having every contribute a bit more than the season before and to me 7 short of that plus 13 points and 12 places better off is a huge success

theres a million and one things to be depressed about supporting rovers but to try and push a negative onto a positive season (in comparison to the one before) is just crazyย

ย

if you think last season was a "huge success' your standards are too low, like Venkys.

Fnished 7th, made a profit----job done! not to me.

The injuries today are different. When did we last lose a player with a broken leg ? It was a regular occurrence back in the day. Youโ€™d normally get one a season.

More likely to happen early in pre season after being off for weeks

Unfortunately it just happensย

Shouldn't all the testing/complex pre season programme prevent the possibility of all that?

Never remember it happening when they just sent them off to run up and down sand dunes.

It isnโ€™t an exact scienceย

like if it is hamstring (just guessing at this stage) you could do all your tests and they come up yes fine but when your running you could overstretch it on a turn or a stride where itโ€™s classed as a โ€˜strainโ€™ same with groin and quadย

injuries just happen - thereโ€™s no conspiracy to itย
