I don't care who any other club sign. I'm just interested to find out who will be playing for Rovers this coming season, and whether there is an actual objective for the campaign. After all, we don't have the odious Steve Waggott to patronise us with platitudes about 'staying in the division' or 'got a shiny new coach' or 'if you have to ask the price, you aren't the kind of support we are looking for'. Mercer esque talk of us being down by christmas is always ridiculous. There are some crap teams near the bottom. But with our continued inability to maintain a strong top half Championship proven core, there is of course a risk of being near the bottom if the aim is just to assemble players from weaker foreign leagues.

Birmingham obviously wont be down there so thats one promoted team out of the question. Wrexham are a bit uncertain but youd expect them to spend enough to be comfortable. Charlton are the ones who likely will struggle most out of the 3, Kaminski is a good signing but will be busy, not helped by signing Amarii Bell. Sheffield Wednesday in particular and also now Hull you would think might struggle so there will hopefully be at least 3 teams worse.

Looks like Derby, West Brom and Watford are planning on big deals.

Looks like Leicester have a few problems too.

I have to admit, I am hoping there are three worse teams, as I have not faith at all in the people running the club, at home and in India.

Pretty sure rules are different below the championship so in effect they have ungoverned spending for a period of time due to not having been in the league.

Different rules in League 1 but as they are now in the Championship the 3 year backdating rule applies…..so will clubs in the Championship now ask that clubs like Birmingham’s wild spending (£20m last summer?) in League 1 be accounted for in 3 years time? 
 

The rule has yet to be challenged. 
 

However they’ve now amended the rules so that clubs can’t do a Birmingham in L1 and L2 again.

Not sure that the rule change stops an owner who is determined to splash the cash, it just ensures that they have to also spend on infrastructure

Not quite,

League 1 & 2 spending is limited based solely on income.  As far as I can tell the new rules just mean that if a rich owner wants to spend £60M on players at a League 1 club he also has to spend £40M on infrastructure

Championship spending is limited based on profit/loss

Mental though to have different rules

As long as you were bouncing between League One and the Championship. It causes a reset of the time period, presumably because of the gulf in finances involved.
