But we didnt have enough for the play offs and that (on the pitch) was down to a subpar attack. Defensively we were very good but 3 key variables (Eustace, Batth and Beck) have all gone.

And our attack is considerably weaker than last year.Β

They mentioned a figure of Β£4-5m being spent last year (which I remain unconvinced about) but they said a similar budget this season and in terms of fees, we cant be that far way. Hopefully some of the work done/about to be done really bolsters us but the attack desperately needs reinforcements and it would not make sense if we have blown the budget or most of it elsewhere.

We were a very defensive team under Eustace so there’s no comparison to be made. It’s a different manager, playing a different way, with different players.Β
Β

And to say our attack is considerable weaker is just silly. We’ve lost 1 first team attacker and an ageing sub. Who knows who will step up next season. Ohashi might get 20, Gueye might get 10, Kargbo might he unplayable. Cantwell might have the season of his life. We might sign an amazing striker. So many unknowns.Β

Beck missed 19 games whilst I rated him I certainly wouldn’t have him down as being a key variableΒ

Have to say in the midst of the gloom Baradji looks like an exciting addition. I could see him pairing up much more with Sondre than Travis but let's see what happens on that front, maybe we lose both, I really hope not.

I'm also convinced Gueye has something about him, whether it can be unlocked consistently under Ismael is to be seen but I'm happy with him and Ohashi as our main options upfront.

Of course, its not 100% linear, but I dont think anyone would argue that our attack is the weakest part of our team. So if we have more money to strengthen it, great. If not, surely you would question where we have spent it to date.

We have lost our second and third top scorer.

Beck ceetainly wasnt as integral as Batth and crucially Eustace. I agree.

But we will only know how crucial Eustace is/was when this season startsΒ

under Eustace we didn’t score as much we sacrificed that side of things for a more defensive approach which help fill the void of Sammie goal

new coach now with pre season and what looks like his type of players everything is now different we could see a completely different side to certain playersΒ

I agree that things can change but would you not agree that coming into the summer, that our attack was the weakest part of our team?

Of course yes on last seasons performance nobody could dispute that and I’d 100% like to see a right winger or wing forward come inΒ

I think those would be the fee's if all add ons are hit.

Elliot has said in his article today that Alebiosu is only 500k if that happens, it's a much lower up front fee.

To be fair, there are still people who believe that we spent Β£7m on BBD and Β£5m on Gallagher.

Both were inclusive of add-ons and clauses, was closer to half on both.

People use the fees to suit whatever point they want to make.

We had enough last season to just miss out on the play offs, Β after a summer of people saying we were doomed cos Sammie hadn’t been replaced.Β

Who knows how this season will pan out? Not any of us that’s for sure.Β

In my opinion last years success was down to:-

- Baath proving a better centre half and better organiser than we had.

- Tronstadt & Travis proving a stern partnership.

- Eustace making us difficult to break down, hence the string of 1-0s that shot us up the table. A manager who knew how to get results with the resources he had.

Baath going is a huge blow and I’d like a direct replacement.

If we were to get another centre half and a striker (and they could be loans) I’d be Β happy with the squad if we kept Trav and Tron, and Toth actually proved himself to be decent (still unknown).

The fear is we lose Brittain and one of the midfield T’s, and we don’t add a centre half or striker. That would leave us struggling.

I’m not displeased so far, but the whole window will be shaped by outgoings.

If the season were to start tomorrow and no-one else were to come in or leave, the squad looks completely unbalanced.

Overloaded in midfield, severe lack of firepower up front and short of options at CB.

As it stands, given the glut of midfielders, difficult to think at least one of Travis or Tronstad won't be leaving.

The more I look at the squad the less I understand it at present.

Believe IsmaΓ«l prefers a 4 3 3, but can't see how we get a balanced front three with goals in them, let alone a second 3. Hopefully things start to make sense in the friendly games.Β

De Neve; Tavares, Alebiosu, and an ex arsenal academy player Arsumi so far in the transfer market. We still haven't strengthened our attack so far.

Amen.

When Travis and Tronstad got injured we were relegation form.

If Brittain joins the exodus, we could be struggling without replacements.

Then it’s a good job it doesn’t start tomorrow

Sorry, didn't realise all comment and opinion was banned until the end of the window.

Glad to hear you have full faith in the powers that be to bring in the players we need in the positions we need them bearing in mind we're still waiting for an Adam Armstrong replacement.
