joey_big_nose Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Its weird that we have the resources to support a fee and wages to sign McLaughlin but not be able to offer a good enough deal to get any of 6 crucial players to sign? 6 Quote

Exiled_Rover Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago A question to ask with these (possibly) 4 transfers - are any of them set piece takers? Cos bloody hell a good one would be worth his weight in gold. 1 Quote

I agree, yet his season before at Norwich, they couldn't wait to get rid of him. Players adapt differently to managers/systems etc. We can all have opinions but to say someone is better than ย someone's else without watching both (over a season) is abit wild.ย Obviously its not an exact science, just my opinion. I also think Ohashi is better than Gueye and will score more goals this season. The opposite might happen. I just personally think from what I have seen from McLoughlin that he is better than Batth. Thats not a criticism as Batth was brilliant last season.ย 38 minutes ago, Eternal Optimist said: Statsย from 24/25 McLoughlin is the first set Batth the second. Not hugely different so stats suggest we are getting a player at least as good as what we have lost ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ I think comparing defenders in particular with stats is flawed but this comparison certainly is as you are comparing a centre back with someone who played basically all of the season at left back. He only played LCB last season to allow Hyam to move over to the right. ย They wanted a LCB to compete with Wharton and it looks like we are getting one.ย ย Not sure thereโs much to quibble about here, they are doing what they said theyโd do.ย ย The only question when he signs is he any good! They said that on the assumption that Batth was staying though. So either way, we would have had 5. But regardless, if McLoughlin signs, we would have him and Hyam, then one centre back who keeps getting injured including last weekend and one who hasnt played for over a year. Would be a huge risk to go with just that. 1 Quote

Brittain is training and they has been no second bid from Boro so lets hope we can convince Brittain to stay and sign a new long term contract hereย Why would we want Brittain to stay then, and why does Ismael want him to stay? If he genuinely would be totally satisfied with just Alebiousu and Montgomery, then surely Brittain is unnecessary clutter? As mentioned, it is funny how the players that exactly suit "the way Ismael wants to play" (you should get that on a t shirt) play for teams relegated for lesser leagues. Dont be naive, of course finances play a part. He hasnt even said that we wont sign a right back as and when Brittain leaves. You are just pre preparing your excuses. We dont know how Alebiosu would cope playing week in week out for the first time and at a higher level than he has played before. For our only cover to be a young midfielder who has only ever started one league game in which he got sent off, would be a crazy risk IMO driven purely by cost cutting. You even said yourself that you want an experienced replacment when Brittain goes. 2 Quote

roversfan99 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Makes no sense. Implies that Batth was just an added bonus rather than integral. 1 Quote

Their cost was not the reason they were bought but their potential ability. The current incomings appear to be scouted based on what we can spend and what their FootballManager ratings are by a scouting team that hasnโt remained intact for longer than 6 months since Covid. 11 Quote
