hardly stacked - listen I think beck can go on to be a very good player but to be made out on this forum he’s something he isn’t is baffling to me

he missed 20 games through injury last season

started 22 and sub 2

They’ve got 3 left backs. They brought the kids from Bournemouth did they not.

assuming ‘they’ are Liverpool that is.

Now they have 3. Kerkaz who’s 21. For my money, he’ll keep Beck out of the team.

A top player. He’s got what Beck has and a bit more.

Your right they did forgot about him

pushes beck closer to the exit door

Let me clarify my point on beck

I think beck is a class wee player and can go on to do well

but in order to call a player the best in that position for a certain club over the last 15/20 years surely you would have had to play more than 25 games to even be considered in that conversation

That’s my point

They've just bought Milos Kerkez for £45m from Bournemouth, which tells you what they think about Beck.

I forgot about that signing yea

i think he’s a class little player but some of the comments on here tonight would make you think we have lost maldini to derby

Beck is a great little player. His physicality surprised me for his size as he's really aggressive but it did tell over a season that he wasn't robust enough yet to hack it week in week out.

Again, you arent reading what I am putting.

How is it negative? Thats what I asked.

Wharton had long periods of not playing in his first season but he is a freak, a special talent. Raya had 3 seasons where he only played very occasionally and a loan spell before he broke in. And now Buckley has appeared as if he is a success story and hasnt just been a waste of a wage for about 3 or 4 seasons.

I know we dont know if he is physically capable. If we dont sign another number 10 (is he even naturally a number 10 anyway?) and he comes in and cant cope physically, then what? He has picked up a number of injuries in youth football so its hardly out of the question, if we dont sign anyone then we are a Cantwell injury away from him having to play game after game and its unfair on him to expect so much.

I am not saying never play him. If he shows when he does play (good opportunity in the cup for him initially) that he is ready now, then by all means the shirt is his and he can be really fasttracked. Its not a case of, if we sign someone, he never plays. Equally, even if he is ready, he likely will have a dip at some point. Wharton was taken out for a while. That way, we can do that. I dont feel comfortable putting all our eggs in the Tyjon basket so soon, partially because its unfair on him.

Maybe even sign someone that can also play wide (or even deeper) so if Tyjon is ready, then theres scope for both potentially.

And I would also like him to actually commit to a new deal (knowing the plan) before we invest this time in him.

I have read all your posts thanks and I know what you have said.

like I said previously, you always look the negative like whether he is physically capable and what happened if he can't cope. What happens if he can cope and is fine physically, ever thought of that RF99?

Wharton was taking out of the team cos JDT dropped him over the defensively side of the game.

he isn't going to commit unless he is getting the game time he wants and Ismael has talk to him and family.

Beck is a good player however if he was that good he would be on loan to a PL team right now, not playing for a team that almost got relegated from the championship last season. I would rather have our own players that we can develop.

I would be worried if I was Derby, two players on one year deals and a on loan left back, not forgetting a striker who is out for a few months already! If this was us the MB would be in meltdown!

Deary me, I never said that he isnt ready physically.

Im saying that we need to be well covered in case he isnt, in case he needs any spells out, in case his injury problems come back or are exascerbated playing mens football.

If he comes in, is of the standard and is physically sustainable, then fantastic, whether we sign someone or not. But we cant just assume he will be.

Also, without signing a new contract, we have seen this script before.

Sorry but rovers99 is spot on here

I do believe if your good enough age is irrelevant but when it comes to championship over  48 game season (2 cup games minimum) there has to be balance in playing him

if cantwell was to get injured for a significant period of time we need other options other than tyjon to hold down the fort in that position

look at rigg in his first year at Sunderland 20 odd appearances not reliant on him or pressuring him just giving him that experience and enough for him to say next season I’m going to compete regularly for first team spot

It tells me they think Kerkaz is better than Beck at the moment. I think they’re right.

Exactly. Its not negative to prepare for a scenario whereby we dont know how Tyjon will adapt.

Equally, if we sign someone but Tyjon hits the ground running, the chance is still there for him to really establish himself and play more ahead of other options.

There are many variables:

- we dont know if his ability is Championship standard yet

- is he over his injury problems?

- is his body capable?

- will he be able to play regular minutes across 46 games without occasional spells out of it?

- can he cope with the pressure of being one injury to Cantwell away from playing week in week out? We could be in a bad spell, we could be playing high pressure games etc

Hopefully he can do it all but we cant possibly know and it isnt negative to say that.

I think he would have gone on to a Premier league team but for that injury. Now Premier League teams will be holding back to see if he’s over it.

He was probably the best left back in the country last year so its an incredibly high benchmark.

Fitness permitting, Beck is an excellent signing for Derby. Didnt see many left backs better than him in the league, good both defensively and going forward.

There is a big snobbery towards a manager signing players he has previously worked with nowadays, its seen as prehistoric. Its all about signing based on data, plucking out players from obscurity. All of the benefits remain though. You know the player is good at the level, you know his character which data cant measure, they can settle in quickly, they can set standards. All 3 did well for us and make us weaker and Derby stronger.

Beck's absolute top quality. You're being contrary on this point.

No im not Iv stated beck is quality I’m taking issue saying he’s been the best left back we have had in decades. keep up

Have we had anyone better than him at LB since Venky's took over?

Either way, his departure has made us significantly weaker in that position and I assume he will make Derby significantly stronger.

Can’t agree on that one

Burrows styles firpo tymon bryon Callum Doyle all had better seasons

Was it because they played full seasons likely but a player can only be judged on games and availability

Significantly weaker is a HUGE over statement.
Ribeiro definitely holds his own at LB and some will say is better than Beck...Certainly has more experience.

Yes I believe we have and it’s nothing to do wit the kids talent

but player injuries and availability has to come into play when putting across such an argument

I also disagree with the later part too what has Ribiero done wrong? Fantastic pick up

we can only judge on playing for rovers not on potential and what you might think of him as a player

again if we went and asked say a Kevin Gallagher or a David Dunn for talk sake in the last 15 years who’s been rovers best left back I’d be very surprised if either mentioned beck because he played so little

I dont think he's a patch on Beck but it's a game of opinions. We've had worse and I assume we signed him because he was a lot cheaper.

Somehow I don't think Derby will be facing a struggle against relegation this season. They will be significantly bettter than last season.

Will we?
