They should be doing everything they can to move on Mafoumbi.

Complete waste of a ESC place.

It probably wouldn't even cost too much to come to terms on paying his contract up so he can move back to France

The Β£10m thing came from a Everton scout who I met at a game. There were a number of others in the players lounge / directors box and most were there to watch Buckley. I hadn’t seen that much of him at the time and so asked what all the hype was…it was common knowledge that Rovers price was Β£10m and at the time, the guy and a Liverpool scout were relaxed with the fee….

I’m pretty sure Mowbray did come out, completely independently around that time whilst discussing Buckleys rise, that he was β€œa Β£10m player…”

At that time (pre Wharton), Buckley was very much seen as the jewel in the academy crown.

At his best, he’s neat and tidy, can play on the half turn and sees a pass. He just never kicked on and in the last few years seems to be regressing further and further back. Shame.

Seems like another young tall athletic type, that looks to be the criteria. Does this take up our final ESC spot?

With another midfielder coming in, it really does leave you scratching your head at the Forshaw signing.Β

One things for sure, the average height of the team is surely going to be taller. Miller, Henrikson and Tavares all 6ft 2.Β

Once they have shipped out Travis & Buckley, We have Tronstad, Henriksson (if he will play that far back), Tavares, Montgomery (and Forshaw to come off the bench to shore up games)

Imagine Forshaw is also seen as "insurance" if they receive an offer they cannot refuse for Tronstad (which consideringΒ  those in charge, will probably be anything over a million)

Guess it was good business for someone in the background?

In fairness he was absolutely prolific at youth level, not sure what's gone on since, injuries, possibly home sick as well, either way it's been a waste of time for all parties.

Does anyone know if he even played when he went on loan to Lierse? Can't see any records πŸ€”

I assume this new guy plays in 1 of the 3 attacking positions, rather than 1 of the 2 centre mid slots.

(Just guessing, I dunno for sure)

Nope, apparently got a knee injury as soon as he joined them though which ended his season

He's played central midfield mostly for his club, but seems very attacking. Seems like he can be back up for both Cantwell and Trav.

Pretty sure he's a number 10 isn't he? So backup for Cantwell.

Looking at clips, he seems able to come off the right to good effect., Allowing the full back to overlap,

Id have him pegged as starting on the right, when everyone is fit, but also able to cover Cantwell

I'm getting confused about Miller. I keep hearing and seeing different things. The only highlights reel I saw showed him to be pretty handy going forward, especially dribbling, but didn't really show defensive stuff. Then all the noise from the Hibs side was that he wasn't a very good RB as he wasn't good going forward, but was ace when moved into CB. Now what you're saying more lines up with my initial impressions.

The only consistency seems to be he is big, strong and athletic.

Wonder if VI has any say in this deal. Maybe he is a player he likes/ fits into his plans?Β

I did think Baradji would take that role, so maybe they see this guy as the right sided player we have been after.

Think he can be both box to box as backup for Trav and also to Cantwell. To an extent also play as a winger.Β
Β

Spurs paid 8,5m for Lucas Bergvall from Allsvenskan. Henriksson actually hits better stats last season than Bergvall.

a promising one this.Β

Allsvenskan is a good league.Β

Nixon reckons we are still after this guy but would be out for 2 months?

The pay as you play deal and the stalwart make sense.Β

We have both mentioned similar.Β  Don't think we are looking for a typical "right winger", but someone to help the right back when out of possession, but drift inside to make a second "10" when we have the ball

On a side note. Wolfe who just joined Wolves came for Β£12m. He came from Norwegian top flight to AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands and now signed for Wolves for 10 times more.

Also Gyokeres who just joined Arsenal and played for Coventry came from Allsvenskan. Lots of talents have erupted from the scandi leagues.Β

One of his biggest assets was winning the ball high in the pitch.Β

If Baradji needs surgery and is out for a few months, then he wouldn't have to be registered in the squad if I am right?

Or, if that falls foul of esc rules, we could just agree a deal in advance to conclude on 1st Jan

By the January window, at least one of Toth & Kargbo should have qualified for a standard work permit, so we will have a free esc slot regardless of what happens with Mafoumbi
