I get you don’t like how things are run and we are all frustrated and of course everybody is entitled to an opinion. However anyone coming away from that game and their take is McLaughlin looked rubbish is just simply wrong 4 1 Quote
Bohinen1983 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago McLaughlin, I thought was excellent, great feet, composed, looks a bargain-Â the rest of the new lads were a bit non-descript to be honest. Did Tavares even touch the ball when he came on? 6 Quote
Emerald Isle Rover Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I’m far from happy with how we are doing things and how things are being run behind the scenes but it’s pretty obvious with the turnaround those players are going to need time. i just find it laughable any football fan watching that game yesterday came to the conclusion that McLaughlin was rubbish what it does highlight for me is what a lot have been saying and asking for - experience he was miles better than the new signings and even most of the players we already had. It’s not a coincidence either experience is worth its weight in gold in this division unfortunately it’s not the model we are after even though it’s obvious 1 1 Quote

Armchair supporter supremo Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Thought it was a bit naive of the manager to start so many new in experienced(in the championship) players tbh, ok fair enough he didn't have many options but still... Most managers would have introduced the newbies gradually in the 2nd half to get them a bit of game time 1 Quote

Ohashi should have been the 10 with Gueye up top 1 Quote
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago From the players with tenuous links, 2 players stand out as really improving our first 11. Both from the Polish league, 27 and 26 so both well experienced. Steve Kapaudi Afimico Pululu. These are the type of players your ESC slots should be used for.   Quote

I think we are in a lot of trouble The last 2 relegations , many fans predicted it before the season started , this one is no different , the squad of players assembled (if that is the word) is up with one of the worst I have seen in 56 years. Steve Kean , Owen Coyle and IV All under the watch of our fantastic owners , I feel sorry for IV he has been dealt a bad hand but I think he is a poor manager ! The other 2 were beneath contempt ! Venkys Out ! Edited 3 hours ago by Waggy76 3 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Thought the defence did well and Toth kept us in the game i don't think it's wrong to say if Pears was in there we are beaten soundly. Angry at the silly passing it around under pressure at the back rearing its ugly head again That will cost a needless goal soon enough, cut it out it doesn't make great footballers out of average ones it just causes steady ones to dither.. Football wise and attacking wise i thought we were crap the pressing was pedestrian and passing/shape disjointed for most of it. At least Kargbo has a go and provides an outlet i think if we started him yesterday he puts WBA on the backfoot from the off whereas instead they took early control. In the end couldn't have moaned at a draw if we pinched it but overall probably a fair result and i think this new look side is going to take a while to find its feet. You can feel the undercurrent of concern in the fans who were rather subdued imo given the number there and the lid will come off guaranteed up we don't get a few wins under our belts. 5 Quote

Lancaster Rover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Wasn’t aware of the shared agent, mafoumbi goes down as another strange signing. The last few seasons I’ve been quietly optimistic as although the ownership and cabal’s a shambles we’ve retained a lot of solid players and had good (not without faults) managers. I personally don’t see VI in the same bracket as JDT and Eustace in terms of quality, throw in to that the loss of quality and experience and the accumulation of relatively unknown players from leagues with a lower standing than the championship and this season is starting to have the feel of the Coyle disaster. This accumulation of unknown players at the behest of the ex player/special advisor makes me very uncomfortable in termS of relationships, etc 6 Quote

Getting a striker in now will not be easy; we might have to consider loaning in someone from a PL side. - William Osula (Newcastle): quite pacey, 6'3 striker who had limited gametime last season. Bought for big money from Sheffield Utd. a couple of seasons ago. Needs a loan to develop. Newcastle will likely not sanction a move before they have gotten replacements in for Wilson and (probably) Isak. - Chido Obi (Man Utd); probably needs a loan move now that they signed Sesko. - Grady Diangana (free); released by WBA, decent right winger and probably an upgrade on Dolan in terms of goals/assists. Has English citizenship so no issue regarding ESC-spots. Decent resale value as well given he's 27 years old.  That's exactly what has gone on the signings are made out of necessity this regime has never 'built' anything they just replace and cobble together. All through Mowbrays tenure barring league one all that ever happened was padding out the squad. The odd bits of investment were and still are just brought in on an individual bases were they think it is a player who can be given games then sold for profit. Every one of these signings now will be stat based and what value they think they can get after 50 to 100 games. Remember Mowbray saying i don't look at the table and not that bothered about results as long as he can see good possession stats and individuals developing ? An utterly bizarre thing to say but born out of the truth because that is the mantra here now. 2 Quote
Lancaster Rover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I still can’t believe we’re swapping Travis; promotion winner, club captain and nearly 250 champ games under his belt for someone who has played 100 games in serie C and D and 30 in a league with similar coefficient to Scotland, who most decry as being tinpot 3 Quote
JHRover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago So we're now so desperate to sell our home grown long standing captain that we are going to have to pay up 2 years of Mafoumbi's contract to get rid of him so that we can open up a slot to allow us to spend more money signing another foreign lad to replace the captain, who may well not be good enough anyway. What a joke of a club. I'm not going to forget the fact that a little over 12 months ago Gestede was doing work experience shadowing Waggott, apparently with a view to a future career as a CEO, and now he's responsible for all recruitment to the club. They've thrown our fate into the hands of a novice.   7 Quote

Without Travis and Tronstad combo it could have been much worse yesterday. Travis is also a fighter and academy lad with a good connection to many fans.  29 minutes ago, chaddyrovers said: Exactly.
