OnionBalaji Posted Tuesday at 19:41 Posted Tuesday at 19:41 Thank you Buckley for the many wins on “to get booked” on the betting … always a certified yellow in reality though glad to see Buckley go - wasted his time and chances 6 Quote

J*B Posted Tuesday at 19:46 Posted Tuesday at 19:46 Good luck, John. I’ll always believe the emergence of Adam Wharton had a massive impact on his development here. John was the next one through, the midfield player and very quickly got overtaken and overshadowed on an undeniable level. Not convinced Saudi is the right option, but it’s a place to find some confidence again and find a move back. I suspect he won’t be getting paid boatloads of money like is suggested, he just won’t pay any tax. 8 Quote

He's one player, if he could refind his love for the game, I wouldn't mind us having a buy back option on because there is a real talent in there somewhere, his main problem seems to be the six inches between his ears. Say what you want but I do miss the feel that squad had. It had a more homely sense about it; we are heading in a direction where 90% of the squad have no connection to this country, let alone the club. Not that nationality matters but nevertheless it feels as distant as it ever has for me. Losing an academy player is never good. Buckley had the potential but never quite reached up to it. Wish him all the best. He obviously knew there was a section of supporters who had nothing nice to say about him hence the comment. For me, a young man who gave 20 years to the Rovers and say what you want about how he comes across, that will be a miss in the dressing room Spot on, exactly the same sentiments. To start, I'm not a massive Buckley fan- always felt like he needed a rocket up his arse. However, his range of passing is brilliant and he can certainly read the game and nick/intercept the ball.. I've seen nothing in Tavares or Henrikson that suggests they have more ability than Bucko. When you add in the fact he's an academy lad and obviously loves the club I don't know why we couldn't have held onto him and just not signed Foreshaw- especially with Travis going. We've a squad now full of lads from all over Europe with absolutely no affinity to the club. They better be bloody good Rudy! 3 Quote

I actually feel like Buckley - in the right headspace - could make a really good career for himself. If he moved to Portugal, for example, he’d have loads of time on the ball and could look brilliant. The reality is that in this league unless he’s 100% up for it, he’ll get bullied. 1 Quote

Forshaw signed because he’s English, so helps that quota, is happy to sit on the bench and if we need someone to bring on when we’re comfortably winning he can do a job? Quote

Buckley had the only real somewhat sustained run of form under Mowbray, ironically as a false 9 which was questioned. His form massively tapered off before the season ended. Wharton only emerged the season after and was soon back out of the team with questions about his attitude. In all of that time, Buckley struggled to get to grips playing deeper and never fully established himself or got back into any form. Buckley's style makes him look like a graceful player. He just isnt very good. 1 1 Quote

But even with lots of time, he isnt particularly productive. I dont think he is bullied particularly. His ability on the ball wouldnt stand out to make him look brilliant in a more technical league. 2 Quote

Blimey, they've had a couple of games and you've already made your mind up on them. Buckley's had forever to prove he's got 'it' and has still come up short.... 4 Quote

Some of the wages look great on paper, but once you start paying Dubai prices (with the mindset of a footballer) it can go rather quickly. Quote
Tony Rover Posted Tuesday at 20:22 Posted Tuesday at 20:22 Buckley needed to move on for himself, I always hoped it would click for him but it hasn’t. On the side note though, all I can see is the heart being ripped out of the club. Who knows what will happen this season, the signings we have brought in have surprised me. Whether they gel together is another thing but here’s hoping. All the best Buckley, you’ll always be a Rover in my eyes. 1 Quote

Paid over 5 seasons. €1 million if we finish top 10 in the Premier League in the next 3 seasons. €1.5 million if Isak is a Newcastle player in 2027. €1 million if Motherwell beat Barcelona in a Champions League fixture before 2030. €1 million if our owners beat a tax case against the Indian Government who have a 97% success rate in court. 9 Quote

I remember when we used to be one of the best run clubs in the country. Yes the calibre of player has gone down vastly in that time. Losing a lot of academy players in this window is what I was referring too. 1 Quote
