Gudjohnsen fills me with dread, a poor goal record in a high performing team. Not a good sign

Eh??? If he was banging them in for a high performing team then he wouldn't be coming here would he.

Ismael has confirmed that we wont be signing a keeper.

All the usual crap about pathways. Its an absolutely ridiculous decision to stick with 1 senior keeper. Does any other team in the football league display such a negligent attitude towards having competent experienced back up? If Toth gets injured we really are fucked.

He seems to have alot of confidence in Michalski and Gaddard.

Something has happened where Pears was second choice not not even third choice

He may do. He may not.

Either way, its total lunacy to have a season with one senior keeper. Do you agree?

Michalski played 1 cup game and clearly is nowhere near ready yet.

Whilst contracted at the club, Pears should be number 2.

Like they did on Forshaw, Kargbo, Gueye, De Neve, Tavares, Henriksson who are all looking distinctly 'iffy' and that's being diplomatic!

Back on your little band wagon after a lost. You seem to have all these great wonderful opinions based on a defeat. We win, we going for promotion

Let's judge them after a period of time.

Chaddy - we are not spending money.  Over hyped fees for the gullible, fanciful add-ons for if we win the PL - IMO, it's all bullsh1t.  IMO, there'll be more money coming into the coffers than is leaving and there'll be huge savings on wages to boot!

FFS, already explained my view plus used what is in FF minutes and Glen/Kidder podcast whilst discussing the playing budget.

Not interested in what you have to say.

Come on Chaddy, it is 4 losses in 5 and half of the players he mentioned were here last year. How long do we give them before judging them?

My point is he’s not scoring goals in a team that scores a lot where he’s had a good amount of minutes. So his conversion rate looks suspect

He's not started many games so unfair to judge IMO. Top Scorer in the league year before and already got 9 international goals - He's only 22!

We can all wager he'll be on par with Ohashi and 10 times the striker Gueye is so it really shouldn't fill you with fear.

Still handed the #1 squad number which surely would have gone to Toth if Pears was off.

How have we played in those 5 games?

We've been in every single one and, barring some awful officiating, should be sat here with far more points.

The worry is that this is our year - we're playing ok and losing, which means we're going down - but I have to think that we'll stop being on the butt end of things and start picking up results.

I don't look at the squad we've assembled and think it's miles off the standard.

Whilst I’m on a rant and rapid fire posting session, one thing that particularly pissed me off about Kargbo today was his total lack of commitment physically. There was an instance in the first half when he had the run on the covering centre half, both sprinting to a through ball. He saw the centre half coming and shit the bed, let him have it. His one asset is his speed, which he rendered useless by being soft as shite

Smit came on and has done absolutely fuck all.

What an enjoyable watch though, great atmosphere and GAE pushing for the equaliser which they've just bagged

He would fit in well then 😞

Still 4/5 short for me... Hopefully Morishita and Gudjohnsen make up 2 of those but still need a proper midfielder, CB and backup GK.

Lack of talk re a centre midfielder makes me concerned they're now not replacing Buckley and have replaced Travis with a crock. We can't go through the next few months with the same options in the middle as today.

Assuming Gudjohnsen is a done deal (and if he was there today he'll fancy his chances of starting against Watford!!!) I still think we need another winger, a CM and a GK.

We're not signing a GK by the looks of it - Ismael's answer on BBC Lancashire about the pathways / young kids didn't even reference Pears. He must be on his way out and they apparently don't plan to replace him, which is worrying.

We were in many games when we got relegated in 1999.  But small margins cost us. We didn’t lose any of the first four games by more than a goal then. It’s rare a team gets relegated that aren’t “in” games unless they are really, really shit. It’s fine margins

This season it is individual moments of a lack of quality costing us. Not clearing that long throw at West Brom. De Neve getting skinned and then Tavares delivering a crap corner against Brum. McLaughlin and Kargbo today.

I know you’re incredibly blinkered on refs, but the only real one against us I feel is the penalty at West Brom. Everything other major decision I’ve agreed with.

What motivation is there for a young player to improve if better/more experienced players are just moved aside to keep their ‘pathways’ clear?

First team opportunities should be earned.

Hull game aside, we've averaged 2 shots a game in the other three league matches. 1 against WBA, 2 against Brum and 3 today. For me that is not OK, we can't win matches with such a low amount of shots hitting the target and our current attacking options being what they are. Particularly when, Hull game aside, we've conceded in every match as well.

We simply have to do better at the opponent's end of the pitch because, even if we are in games, those fine margins will likely continue to go against us.

That would be insanity. Toth getting a season ending injury against Watford meaning poor Michalski or Goddard get thrown in game after game is a destruction pathway not a development pathway!

Fair enough and I’ll wholeheartedly support him in blue and white, I am Just very worried about our current recruitment teams ability to spot a player

The last 3 players we've signed will all have an impact IMO.

I thought the ref was fine today, we made his job easy by allowing Norwich to buy some stupid fouls. The amount of times rovers players bundled into the back of players waiting for contact was painful to watch. Each time slowing the game down and allowing them to control the flow of the game

Perhaps 7 games into his managerial tenure here?

Agree. Cannot see Pears going this window personally. As much as we’ve all criticised him in the past, I’m sure we would all want an experienced keeper in should Toth face a period out injured.

I just want consistency from referees. I'm not incredibly blinkered at all.

I thought S. Wharton should have been sent off today for grabbing their attacker round the neck when he was running down the right - I think the ref took pity on him and turned a blind eye because he'd already sent off McLoughlin for less contact.

Ooooph. He was one of the worst I've ever seen.

They genuinely couldn't do much worse sacking the lot of them and starting again afresh.

There are some on the those deluded Rovers facebook pages saying that the board has absolutely 'smashed' it this xfer window. Incredibly niave.
