I'd imagine Pears' dodgy transplant has meant clubs won't be looking at him, unsure when he will be able to play etc.. besides who in the championship needs a starting GK with 4 games already played

Wrexham's keeper is injured, and even when fit he isn't up to much, they could have Pears at a knockdown price of ยฃ2M or so ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

We should do a countdownย

7pm deadlineย

1 hour 25 mins flight time from Belgiumย

3 hours flight time from Portugal

2 hours 40 flight time from Polandย

ย

If we've not heard by 4pm then we've no Portugal coup, 4,20pm then no Polish starlet and 5,30 means no Flemish wonder boyย

Hmmm...you name 4 wingers for 2 positions, then wedge in a RB and a CAM, and say that's enough. Then name 5 CMs for 2 positions and say that's a frightening thought.

I don't imagine the discrepancy is quality in depth, as a lot of those wingers don't seem up to it either.

I named 5 CMs;

  • Forshawย who I don't think can do more than 20mins and I personally wouldn't have re-signed. He's 33, injured and seemingly hasn't had a pre-season at all.ย  Probably useless until at least October.ย
  • Montgomery who I don't think is anywhere near ready for first team football
  • Tronstad who is first name on the team sheet.ย
  • Tavares who has flattered to deceive and hasn't really played a huge amount of senior football.ย  Certainly he's never done 35+ games at let's say 60 mins or more per game.ย  Most productive season 29 games and an average of 45mins across those,
  • Baradji - have no idea when he is going to be fit, whether he needs surgery, whether he's actually any good.ย

One injury to Tronstad and one of the most crucial areas of the pitch looks incredibly threadbare.ย

Wingers, you're probably right, we could do with another, particularly given Hedges injury record.ย  Jesus, I'm far from convinced by Kargbo and De Neve, but I don't see Rovers thinking like that. I honestly think they'll look at Alebiosu as another wide option, especially with Miller to come in as right back cover.ย

Pears is a below average championship keeper, capable of great saves but dodgy like most are.

From what Iโ€™ve seen I prefer Toth but heโ€™s clearly a better back up option than the alternatives, if we canโ€™t get a decent fee for him Iโ€™d keep him around.ย

From Jackson:

"Right, bit of an update on what we might expect today.

Not expecting it to be overly busy but there's still the possibility of an incoming. That would most likely be a forward of some description.

Outgoings, Harry Leonard deal is done as previous reported, will be confirmed at some stage today. Could see a couple of younger loans too. Nothing on the table for Aynsley Pears at the time of writing which means he could stay."-

---------

An injury to Tronstad and we are a shoe in for relegation, IMO.

So, at most 1, heres a bit ot a glimmer to also cover my own back but almost certainly wont happen.

Central midfield is a real concern. Im glad we shipped off the old model that is proven midfielder Travis for our new premium athletes. (One is currently having a tyre change)

It would be a disaster, but a shoe in for relegation is a bit much.ย There's some absolute dross in this league. You don't need much talent to finish above the three worst teams.ย

ย

Having said that, I'd obviously be much happier if we had another proven midfielder coming in before the deadline.ย

Jackson wrongly claiming we are at the 25 man squad limit, Goddard & Montgomery do not need to be registered as they will still be 21 come 1st Jan 2026, & it looks like Pears won't be registered.

I would personally keep Pears as back up, but if he is not registered we have 3 slots left.ย  If he is registered, we have 2

As things stand, this is what we're looking like as squad depth. Rovers can name a 25-man squad with Tyjon and Michalski two that don't need to be registered. So they're at the limit.

GK: Toth, Goddard, Michalski, Pears
RB: Alebiosu, Miller
CB: Hyam, Carter
CB: McLoughlin, Wharton
LB: Ribeiro, Pickering
CM: Tronstad, Forshaw, Montgomery
CM: Tavares, Baradji
RW: Morishita, Hedges
CAM: Cantwell, Henriksson, Tyjon
LW: Kargbo, De Neve
ST: Ohashi, Gudjohnsen, Gueye

If we end today without adding to midfield then we're going to run Tronstad into the ground.

Foreshaw, Tavares, Kristi and sick note as midfield options should Tronstad be out is negligence in all honesty.

Would feel more comfortable with adding someone a bit more experienced in centre midfield. Particularly if injury concerns / doubts over Baradji.ย

We are a tronstad and Toth injury away from being the 2nd worst team in the league. But I guess the pathwayโ€™s are more important!ย

No centre midfielderย

he will be gone come October internationalsย

looking forward to hearing the absolute nonsense that will come from Rudy about how this window has been exciting - will cite gudjohnsen and Morishita signingsย

which will then in turn fall into they are going to need time to get up to speed etcย

so predictableย

How come you are so confident on getting two in?ย

It's just a guessย

First interaction of deadline day.

I never said that Pears will be number 2. I dont think he will.

I think he SHOULD. Opinions dont have to match what actually happens. We dont just have to parrot what the manager says and does.

You just ignored all the facts in front of you again. I will leave it there

He wont be going anywhere regardless. He has 3 years left.ย

They arent paying that off.

The Pears thing is really odd.

Even if he is "Hair transplant guy" how bad can it be? Surely he could at worst play with a protective cap or dressing on.

Can't understand him being frozen out to the extent he isn't even being considered as back up.

Did he stick up for Lesley as well?

Its bizarre. He played (his request) for the under 21s a couple of weeks ago.

If Toth gets injured and a young lad comes in and makes a mistake. Thats on Ismael.

100%, he signed up for this too so he isnโ€™t faultless at all.. go get an experienced number 2 on a free ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Even though I don't think he is outstanding someone like Dan Barlasar at Boro could be brought in on a cheap enough dealย

Gestede ...ismael...Owen.. etc have seen our games it's frightening if they are not concerned over our options at centre midย

Dan Barlaser or Sam Field.. both below average footballers but would be our 2nd best midfielders and have experience, panic day so would definitely take eitherย

That midfield 5 is terrifying, Tronstad the only championship quality player in there, the other 3 I don't believe are the standard required and a massive question mark (being kind) next to Baradji who we have no idea a) if he's any good b) when he's fit.

Doubt Baradji will be fit till november time then heโ€™ll need time to get up to speed and adapt to the championship.. may aswell have got him in Januaryย
