I’ve just bought a season ticket for my local cinema…23 films for £400 over the next ten months.

Only thing is, the screening times can change at short notice making attendance planning quite challenging & I doubt I can make all 23.

It also turns out that 15 of the advertised films to be shown will also be broadcast simultaneously on SkyCinema…that seems a bit strange but apparently all the movie chains are doing it now.

Still, it’s a grand old local institution & I do like to support it. But, frankly the facilities aren’t what they used to be and many of my friends that used to go with me have lost interest so it’s not the community event it once was.

They still sell all the usual stuff in the foyer but quite often there is a queue during the interval so there isn’t always time to get popcorn, a drink, go to the loo & get back to my seat in good time. It’s not the end of the world, but at the prices they charge you’d think they’d be better organised.

The manager of the place quit recently after a disagreement about future strategy & they’ve brought in a bloke from France to take over. He got off to a dodgy start by showing a few arthouse French language films without even any sub-titles but he redeemed himself by showing a series of Marvel classics last month which won over many of the patrons.

We are promised some more Hollywood blockbusters apparently in this next run so that will be nice but I must admit to feeling a little concerned to hear that the local film school has been engaged to produce movies…untried youngsters making their way in the industry…I mean it might work but how many George Lucases or Steven Spielbergs do you get in Blackburn?

I’ll let you all know how it unfolds…👀

Be careful of slipping on the steps coming out and if I were you, I would print any previews of the films out before you go, as they have stopped doing programmes.

Try to be more grateful. It if wasn’t for the overseas hedge fund who own the cinema selling the cinema’s car park to fund more shit films, there wouldn’t be a cinema.

You can watch them all for free on the stick, and if they're crap you haven't even had to leave the house.

AND YET, like others you still choose to buy a season ticket, because no matter how comfy your seat at home and how bad the weather is getting there, you just can't beat that big screen experience.

You miss the point here by a large unit of measure.

I don't, and I appreciate people's situations and the struggles they have, but there will never be a better atmosphere until people turn up, it stands to reason.

much rather be in the stadium supporting my team than watching on home even tho I can watch plenty of fixtures on TV. You can't beat being there watching your team. I much prefer being at Ewood Park 23 times a season then sat at home watching from my armchair every single time.

You're one of the few people on the planet who have literally no other plans, ever, than to attend home games at Ewood no matter what time or date......

what don't you get? time or day aren't a problem at all, I have been used to attending Rovers matches on different days so its no difference nowadays compare to 5 or 10 years ago. Also to add this is main social activity with my bro and nephew. We enjoying attending Rovers home games and also hopefully more away games next season with my missus getting better after serious illness.

You and others might not be able to attend for different reasons but plenty of us to attend every home games.

Back in the day we used to arrange our holidays, family events etc around the fixture list.

No chance I’d do that now, imagine missing out on a good September deal for your hols so you don’t miss Millwall at home.

Coupled with a total lack of empathy towards others who are affected by constant kick off time changes.

wrong again RF99 but carrying on posting your lies.

Nights games means I get 3 hours less sleep before I go to work on a night shift but it is my choice to work nights and to attend Rovers games. Its my decision so I owned my decision. I take it from your comments you have never worked night shifts in your working life? is this correct RF99?

I'll break it down to make it easier for you to digest.

Things that crop up for me personally that mean I couldn't attend every single game regardless, even if I wanted to:

Weddings

Stag dos

Christenings

Birthdays

Anniversaries

Holidays

Work commitments

General social commitments

Child care

Kids parties that they get invited to multiple times a month usually

Kids sporting commitments

That's off the top of my head, there'll be more...

You're in an extremely unique predicament if none of the above influence your ability to attend games.

Hilarious.

Respond to someone despite clearly not understanding what they've said.

That person says you've missed the point of what I was saying.

Respond back saying no I don't and then go on to spout more bollocks that clearly misses the point of the original post.

🤡

I know what the original point was, but you said you couldn't bare to watch Rovers in a stadium with 6000 rattling around, did you or did you not?

If you stay away because of the lack of support, you're obviously adding to the problem that you're complaining about.

Are you Einstein in disguise ?

Compared to you I am obviously.

Like I said previously, each person has their own commitments and what they are.

Some of the above do happen and some of them don't in my life but don't affect my ability to attend Rovers matches. Rovers is my main social activity these days and it's been that way for many years now as I have said many times on here

It's the early kick off times that have made it more awkward for me, with the grandkids' footy, but I don't generally miss any games .

Neither do I, I wouldn’t buy a ST (especially at these prices) if I didn’t intend to go to them.

But important, milestone life stuff also happens between August and May.

So a big pal or family member were due to married at the same time as Swansea at home… and you’d say ‘no, can’t make it, sorry’.
