Montgomery at right back after yesterday ? De Neve instead of Kargbo ?

This is the team that I predict Ismael will pick, not my preferred 11.

Who are you putting at RB? The options are a guy who has never kicked a ball in the Championship, looks as raw as they come and couldn't get a game at the relegated Belgian side Rovers have signed him from....or Montgomery, who at least has some minutes in the Championship.

On Kargbo, I don't think Ismael trusts him to start games and do the defensive side of the game, so I predict Ismael favours De Neve to start ahead of him.

As I say, they're just predictions and not my preferences.

De Neve? Has he ever taken set pieces before? I only saw the first half hour yesterday but he put in one free kick that just went miles over everyone.

Weve not had a decent set piece taker for a while.

I would prefer Kargbo and Pickering to start down the left. Also, obviously not Montgomery on the right.

Going into the season with Hedges starting was grimly predictable.

We have to play the guy who we bought to replace Brittain. The guy who came on yesterday at half time. If not why did we sign him ?  Montgomery at right back is a ticking time bomb. You wouldn’t see a tackle like that yesterday on your local rec. I had the sound off on my TV and I thought he was grabbing the lad because the ref had blown up for something. WBA’s coaching staff will have watched yesterdays game and will be targeting him from the off.

He's not played as much pre-season as Montgomery. He joined after pre-season started and didn't feature at all before the trip to Spain. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I am predicting Ismael will favour Montgomery. Hopefully Alebiosu turns out alright though.

Neither are Brittain's replacement btw...Miller coming from Hibs is that.

He took them from memory against Everton didn't he?

Its was only a friendly yesterday but some people overaction to yesterday's defeat was very predictable and probably the same people who told some people don't over reaction to our win against Everton

I don't know how WBA play, has Ryan Mason will set up formation wise either.

I am not overreacting to any game. I didnt watch most of it.

De Neve might have taken all of the set pieces at his old club but I havent read that it was a strength of his. If he isnt, then we need to keep looking for a good taker of set pieces as we dont have any.

Most of these players have been benefitting from professional coaching for the last 15 years of their lives and more yet they can’t be trusted to land a ball in the danger zone. The mind boggles !

Didn't say you did but others did.

Given the SPL season has already started, I can't see any reason for Miller not coming straight into the side. Ditto Henriksson coming from mid-season Sweden who could be preferred over Hedges.

Expecting the unexpected in the starting line up. Kargbo and Gueye coming on in the 60th minute is pretty certain though.

Miller is currently injured and has been for a few weeks so that might be a reason.

No way will he stick Henriksson straight in either.

set pieces seems threaten enough against Everton

I thought we shouldnt read anything into pre season?

Although I am not sure they did. But guessing you dont think we should sign a good set piece taker.

well you clearly have. Set Pieces have been mixed, good in some games and poor in some. I have seen Rovers played awful in pre season

Lets see how set pieces are first.

Until its too late?

We know that our current set piece takers are not very good. Theres going to be more height in the team so why not take advantage.

What are basing our set pieces takers are then?

Last season Cantwell and even Ribeiro usually took them and neither were very good set piece takers.

It's not always about the delivery though. I saw many good corners in particular last season that we didn't take advantage of or were well defended.

Cantwell

It's whats been missing at Ewood, a decent crosser of the ball for the strikers in the box.

What about the set piece against Everton, it would have been goal of the month, if it hadn't been for a fantastic save.

Last season is last season.

Ismael has had all preseason to work on them and as arbitro makes some good points.

Didn't you attend the Everton game? The set pieces were much better.

Pretty terrible opening day squad really gone for Gueye as hoping he will be physical for 60mins and then get ohashi in to keep them running whilst they start to tire out. wishful thinking
