Flopped here, true but did good elsewhere. It happens a lot - both ways. Ie we get someone who we think is uselesss, they go on somewhere and do well. And vice versa. All about timing, luck, surrounding players and all sorts of other factors. One that sticks in my mind is Franny Jeffers -not necessarily his time here but he looked cracking at Everton and then went to Arsenal? and flopped. Stars wax and wane. And also, your shelf life can be short. A striker can be the dogs for a bit and then there is another one off the rank. edit I guess it was the price tag for Davies and he didn't do much (but not entirely his fault). He probably got more in the early 2000s in fairness, but I think most fans always recognised he was doing his best. Doesn't alter the fact that it was a catastrophe of a transfer. Huge money and a big contributing factor to getting relegated. Agree that there are lots of examples where we've had players where the shoe has been on the other foot. Danny Graham at Sunderland is one that comes to mind. Edited August 29 by Admiral Nelsen 3 Quote

Lots now know so he should get a nice send off. Im in Spain so will be watching on Rovers TV as usual and will applaud from there. 1 Quote
roverblue Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Tomorrow should be a good marker of where we are at after a set of good performances but only one win. looking forward to it and the sense of mystery still about all the new signings. Fingers crossed for 3 points and a performance to match! 1 Quote
aletheia Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Can't argue with that. Everyone got a crib sheet for the names and positions? 😉 Don't rely on the scoreboard. 😉 Quote

Buckley, not played much and need regular 1st team football. Leonard similar. What treatment? Quote

I respect Roy for what he has done in football but his time here was absolutely dire. I hated pretty much everything he did, tactics, signings, media etc. Yet another one I was pleased to see the back of. 1 Quote

His chairman had heard through the grapevine that Rovers were going to bid for Dailly, so they had a meeting and agreed that they wouldn’t accept a penny less than £2 million for him. They nearly fell off their seats when in the conference call over the phone Roy Boy’s opening offer was £5 million ! They even managed to squeeze another £250,000 out of us ! 4 Quote

The funny thing with Graham is that he was crap at Sunderland, came here and was pretty solid, then went back to Sunderland and was rubbish again 🤣 1 Quote
