I would have thought the way we are set now would be perfect for him. The sooner he’s back the better although Morishita seems to be warming to the role.

Cantwell, Pickering, Pears are above the Pasha line for wages so they will try to sell them if anyone wants them.

O'Riordan and Pratt into the squad means we do not need to spend money - plus bank any fees plus Adam Wharton's £2mn and they have fulfilled their role.

Fwiw I actually fancy getting O’Riorden back and playing for Rovers. Looks like he’s kicked on on loan and deserves a chance.

Doncaster are 19th in League 1 and have conceded quite a lot of goals. He may have done well (unsure if a lot are just assuming he has done well or if he genuinely is) but he was nowhere near the first team when he left and no way should he be our main defensive reinforcement to essentially replace Hyam. As another body on top of a new signing, by all means.

Doncasters results have seriously declined since they were in the play off spots in September.  O'Riordans performances have in the main been described by the local press in Doncaster as "solid" (which is a comedown from the first couple of months of the season when he was being described as "exceptional"), and when fit,  he does play pretty much every minute for them, but I would debate just how solid his performances have been given results over the past 2 months

Loads of links to decent players spread out there by Nixon and a load of bullshit Twitter accounts with a few ITK crumbs thrown out there as well. 

It goes on for weeks without any real action then we'll finally sign some nobody who is gash. 

Possibility that we'll offload one of our best players at the last minute as well.

Not rocket science. With the current formation we're desperately short of strikers and centre backs, although I'd prefer it if we kept at least some faith in academy players like Pratt rather than signing another Matt Kilgallon or or Paul Downing. We also need someone to challenge and/or deputise for Alebiosu at right back. There are currently about 27 left back in the squad so we could do with losing one or two of those, and the manager clearly has no faith in Gueye which means he should go as well.

Its not another Paul Downing we need. Its not a young defender who had been nowhere near our first team that we need to recall. We need a couple of centre backs of the quality to come straight into the starting 11. We massively miss Hyam and Batth. We knew we would.

Gestede has filled the squad full of players that are absolutely woeful from random leagues. De Neve, Henriksson, Gueye, Kargbo, Tavares etc. Even the more domestic ones, Gardner Hickman struggled for game time in League 1, it shows, McLoughlin couldnt nail down a regular centre back spot when at Hull, it shows. Miller is so poor on the ball. Its frightening that these players have been signed to kick start a supposed overhaul of the squad. Cheap, sub par crap.

The club seems happy to portray a feeling of hard luck regarding injuries. Dont buy it.

Carter and Wharton getting injured was predictable. Toth, Cantwell and now a small injury to Tronstad, fine its annoying.

The main reason for our chronic lack of squad depth is dreadful recruitment. You look midweek or on the bench today, the likes of De Neve, Henriksson, Baradji, Tavares etc. Players not capable or who havent contributed at the correct standard. We also had a self inflicted squad limit below the one that the football league enforces.

I cant speak Polish, so the youtube interview is useless to me, but former senior scout, Piotr Sadowski has apparently said that the data driven approach etc is Adam Owens domain

 

 

Also, Marcel Regula may be a name to keep an eye out for.  Sounds like we were having a look at him during the summer, and we do like to revisit old targets

According to Sadowski, the Championship side’s plan was to sign the player and send him on loan elsewhere. He hasn’t explained why Blackburn Rovers weren’t able to get the deal for Regula over the line.

 

“I can say that he was the apple of my eye. I really regret that this player didn’t end up there, but at the time, he would have been a so-called ‘project’,” Sadowski explained.

“He wouldn’t have earned the necessary points to receive a work permit in England and the ability to play immediately.

“Furthermore, Blackburn Rovers didn’t have the option of giving him a ‘wild card’ at the time; a slot that would allow him to play immediately. The idea was to acquire the player and loan him out. He would have developed in a stronger league than the Ekstraklasa and at some point, would have joined Blackburn.”

I would say send Gueye to Cardiff in an exchange for Yousef Salech, 23 year old, superb big danish striker and sign Bali Mumba as cover for Alebiosu.
