Lot will depend on how the two lads up front shape and of course it's subject to them not flogging Alebiosu at the last minute.

 

Perhaps I'm being harsh but I think it largely comes down to the fact that the squad is a lot weaker than the one we had going into January 2025. Despite a woeful window last year, they still came very close to the playoffs. This time round the window has been so weak to go on top of an already very poor summer window.

Once the news broke on Val, I think it was pretty obvious nobody else was coming through the door.

He probably got told straight after hull but they've waited till today to release - The kitty on a striker has been used to pay him off.

We’ve gone though the month with nowhere near enough fire power and the one position that we desperately needed to sort is ignored. I’m guessing that’s why Ismael went. He’s been told nothing else coming in and decided he’s got no hope of keeping us up.

We’ve signed 3 players and two of them are forwards? I appreciate they’re not guaranteed championship goals but that costs big wages and/or fees.

 

Valerian couldn’t keep us up with Szmodics and prime Rhodes up front

Not wishing to have a go at you particularly Ricky but why do people keep portraying Ismael as some sort of fall guy?

He knew the script when he came in and no way whatsoever he walked voluntarily, he'll never get a job at this sort of level again.

Hedges, Kargbo and Ribeiro would be my guess.

Even if we bring a striker in at the death, it will be of the Woodrow variety so barely worth the effort. 

We’re banking on Gudjohnsen staying fit and having enough out wide to get him chances. I’m not convinced either.

Are you sure? We have definitely talked about deal sheets in these threads before, and definitely talked about submitting initial paperwork and then ironing out the fine details later. With respect, I think what you and Jackson are saying is incorrect.
