Look at the device.

Bolting on a pipe wouldn't be expensive in the slightest.

Although the flow of the drainage now goes with the flow of the river, the pipe looks so small it would probably be restricting the outflow.

I want the club to be dragged in front of the EFL and be held to account. We get more rain than the vast majority of the country in East Lancs and we have people working on the pitch daily, surely those people will know how many times out of the 365 days a year the pitch would be unplayable.

I want the club and head groundsman to be interviewed on public record to admit how many times that pitch would be unplayable, and who has decided to do nothing be it the groundsman not letting the club know (impossible in my eyes) or the club ignoring his requests. I feel I already know the answer to this but I want the jokers running this club to be exposed.

This isn't the groundsman fault.

Aside from nothing else we wake up this morning talking about this shite again, instead of being 3 points better off and wondering if Ohashi will kick on, etc.

Literally robbing us of our football.

Water will still get in it and back it up due to water volume etc just because its pointing downstream still won't solve the issue.

Exactly. Wasted our day. The travel the expense, then expect people to pay again to go down there.

Not this time.

I didn't say it would resolve it but would help to a point.

we played in worse....

In the sixties, by this time in the season the majority of the pitch was just mud with the only grass tending to be on the wings.  Thanks for putting that video up.  Remember that season well as we were relegated from the First Division whilst reaching the quarter final of the FA Cup.  All season folk said we were far too good to go down - and we really shouldn't have - but we managed to get relegated with a record low points total at the time, just 20 points.

On the plus side, rarely have I felt as well-informed about drainage, so there is that…👀

We've already punished ourselves by losing possibly up to 5 points, getting injuries unnecessarily, bookings to count towards suspensions unnecessarily, national embarassment and having to play 2 more league games this season than nearly everyone (except Ipswich and Sheff W, for who it's only one more).

Talk of any further punishment is daft.

Being unable to fulfil a fixture is punishable by the EFL.

We’ve now been unable to fulfil two.

Physically absolutely not, but I'd expect between him and the club they would know how many times a year Ewood Park is not fit for a match.

I would expect this is recorded by the groundsman/ club and when challenged by the EFL I would want tough questions asked as to why no money out of the considerable funds the EFL give to the club is being spent on making the pitch playable in heavy rain.

It was much worse against ipswich but you kept banging on about it was playable and that McKenna was the one who called it off.

It was the correct decision to call it off both times from where I was sat, ridiculous that we're in this situation in 2025.

The ball was stopping more central then the Ipswich game were that part of the pitch seem better.

Also felt the rain was more heavy yesterday than Ipswich game. Just after abandonment the weather was much worse than the Ipswich game.

Once again, a lot of rain fell this afternoon and it’s obvious to everyone that the drainage system could not handle it. However, realistically,  what could have been done to prevent this happening again. It’s not like there can be a complete overhaul of the pitch until the summer.

The EFL have no other option but to order a replay as per Ipswich but may decide to give the club an ultimatum that could include sanctions if the problems with the pitch are not addressed by next season.

Rochdale set to move home games to rebuild pitch

And that's a fan owned club in the National League, who had major financial problems less than 2 years ago.  Not a Championship club with alleged billionaire owners

I don't remember these games bit what I will say is if the conditions be sticky mud SO BE IT! That's part of the fun. Snow I can call off but rain ought to be played through

I hope we don't have to replay the fixture and are awarded all three points this time.

Our fixture list is getting as clogged up as the drainage 'system' at Ewood and we have a squad fighting tooth and nail to stay up, so anything we can get I'll take. I do not want relegation and fear that we'll become another Bolton Wanderers FC if we do.

We are more likely to be deducted the points. It is our clubs fault.

Said this last night, well have effectively played two games extra than anyone else

yep and our players basically suffer- it’s not fair for them to play more minutes than other teams, more risk of injury etc

The EFL wont want to start a precedent so expect them to ask Rovers to commit to investing and installing a new modern football pitch. Drainage from the pitch is the problem cos it was drainage much even in the first half

Give over.

There might have been a knee jerk reaction for a bit but beyond that it's way too far fetched.

It was one expensive snowball for them.

Very rich people can hold a grudge for a long time over what poorer people consider a trifle.

and extra yellow cards/more chance of suspension to Alebiosu, Pratt & Forshaw, all of which still count
